  • New cultural and community hub coming soon to Brunswick! 📣 Following community engagement and approval from Geographic Names Victoria, we are pleased announce Balam Balam Place as the new name for the cultural and creative space under construction in Brunswick.🚧 The Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation shared a yarn on the meaning of the name: ‘Balam balam, meaning butterfly in Woi-wurrung, symbolizes beauty, transformation, creativity, and the strength of community. It embodies the spirit of unity and the freedom to imagine and create together.’ Balam Balam Place is currently undergoing a $30 million redevelopment to transform it into a state-of-the-art creative and accessible community hub.👩🎨 Find out more about the project on the Conversations Merri-bek website: https://lnkd.in/gCpFC2mE ID: Corner of a heritage building showing the metal lattice work and a brick chimney, with the blue sky in the background.
