A big congratulations to DIVA team for being awarded Team of the Month for November! 🌟 The team was recognised for their person-centred active supports and thinking outside the box. As a reward, the team has the opportunity to choose a prize from bowling, a movie night, dinner/lunch, or an escape room session. When we dropped off the plaque this week we caught Mary and Ma-Linda enjoying a bit of slime time. Congratulations all! 👏

There's still time to give back to your local community this Christmas. 🎄🎅 As many of us head out to Christmas parties or travel to see family, it's a timely reminder that these are experiences out of reach for many people with disabilities and children in care. 📌According to the ACOSS/UNSW report 2018 'Poverty in Australia', just under 4 of the 10 Australians living in poverty have a disability. The report notes that these numbers are likely an under-estimate. 📌 One in five people with disability aged 15-64 feel socially isolated (double the rate of those without disabilities) and of the 5.5 million people in Australia living with disability, more than a quarter live in households where they're unable to leave their homes as much as they'd like. 📌 For children in residential care, the chance to develop hobbies, hang out with friends, or experience holidays like their peers are important in creating a safe and nurturing environment. Your support helps us make the dreams of Mackay locals come true and bring joy to those needing a helping hand. Every dollar helps. 👉 Click here to donate before Christmas morning: https://lnkd.in/ge6svR7e
