One of the leading causes of insurance losses around the home is bursting flexi-hoses, and more and more of them are finding their way into our houses. Having seen these losses and the impact that even the smoothest claim has on the impacted family on a near daily basis, I tend to turn the water off at the mains any time the house is going to be left unattended for a night or more. With summer once again upon us and some scorching days on the forecast I wanted to find a solution which would be a)easy to operate and b)would still allow my irrigation to operate as normal. The solution was a simple and relatively uncostly one, install a solenoid on the water main after the irrigation but before the first flexi-hose. To make things simple it can be operated by a light switch. I can now travel without fear of returning to a flooded house or a dead lawn. In my planning I found that I could have actually set the solenoid up to be controlled by my alarm system. This would have been the dream as it would have guaranteed that the water was off every time we left the house, even if it was for only 10 minutes. However, I found that some appliances such as the ice maker in the fridge need constant water supply or there is a risk of damaging it (you can switch the ice maker off however) Anyway, very happy to have reduced the risk of a loss over the holidays. If anyone is interested in setting something like this up please feel free to DM me for details. Happy holidays! #lmigroup #insurance #risk #riskmanagement #RMI #lmicollege #waterdamage #insuranceclaim #claim

Preserving perishable goods is crucial for businesses, especially those handling perishable food, pharmaceuticals, and other temperature-sensitive products.
