Exciting News for Connecticut Transit Riders! Passengers on the {{linkedin_mention(urn:li:organization:57312910|River Valley Transit)}}(RVT) and {{linkedin_mention(urn:li:organization:7082036|CTtransit)}} Meriden Division buses can now pay for their journeys using their bank card or mobile wallet. In late 2023, The {{linkedin_mention(urn:li:organization:771705|Connecticut Department of Transportation)}} launched the Connecticut Integrated Transit Mobility Project (CT-ITMP), a USDOT-funded SMART grant project. CT-ITMP is a collaborative initiative that aims to establish an interconnected, multimodal statewide public transit system that boosts ridership and fosters equitable access. This open loop payments launch represents Stage 1 of a wider vision, providing the foundation for a unified fare payment system across the state. It was great to exhibit at this year’s European Mobility Expo earlier in this month. Our team caught up with key partners to discuss plans for the future. Our team has had a busy few weeks attending and exhibiting at events in the UK, Europe and North America. At Smartex Limited TCF we had a great time meeting up with so many industry colleagues, and a few key themes kept coming up that are shaping up the future of fare collection in the UK: - With a focus on making ticketing more inclusive 𝐌𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫 & 𝐌𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢-𝐌𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 are hot topics right now. - There’s a clear shift from paper tickets to mobile and contactless, which brought on many discussions on the role of 𝐌𝐚𝐚𝐒 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐬 in the fare collection process. - It looks like 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥 hasn’t bounced back to pre-pandemic levels yet.
