A Right to Disconnect clause is a start, but it’s not enough. Without proactive workplace policies and cultural change, the expectation to always be available continues—impacting workers' health and well-being. The LGEA’s model policy aims to make the Right to Disconnect a reality by fostering cultural change and shared responsibility between workers and supervisors. On Friday, the LGEA and IPWEA NSW & ACT signed a Memorandum of Understanding, strengthening our shared commitment to professional development and advocacy for members. This partnership will deliver opportunities for upskilling and career growth while amplifying the voice of local government engineers through coordinated advocacy to state government. Together, we aim to shape policy, address legislative changes and support the ongoing development of the profession, including the introduction of a broad-based registration scheme for engineers, in local government. #localgovernment #engineers #professionals #LGEA #unions #unionmember #uniondelegate #unionwin #unionstrong #activism #auspol #ausunions #professionalsaustralia
