"LGBTQ inclusion is not about trying to change individual values or beliefs. It’s about behaviour and how we interact with each other. The very nature of diversity means that people will have cultural, religious, and attitudinal differences." - 🌿 Lauren Haskins Missed our recent Lunch & Learn on Supporting Our LGBTQ Community? Lauren Haskins, our Founder and Practice Director of A Growing Understanding- Speech Pathology delivered a session that looked at why inclusivity is vital in healthcare, including paediatric services. Lauren emphasised the importance of creating a culture where everyone feels seen and safe, sharing practical strategies for avoiding assumptions, using pronouns correctly, and fostering an environment where all differences are respected. You can catch up on this session with our Workshop Replay, and when you register you will gain access to the recorded presentation, the complete slides, and our comprehensive Supporting Our LGBTQ Community Implementation Guide. 🌈 The replay is available on our website under the Courses and Replays tab. #InclusiveHealthcare #LGBTQSupport #ProfessionalDevelopment #LetsGrowTogether

If you missed out on the live Paediatric Feeding SLP Australian Tour in March, don't worry - you haven't lost your seat at the table 😉 Brianna Miluk Slp, delivered valuable insights across various aspects of paediatric feeding that resonated with so many professionals - and we captured it all in our Workshop Replays. Bri illuminated (among so much more): 1️⃣ The significance of addressing all domains in paediatric feeding disorders. 2️⃣ The art of assessing oral motor skills in practical, real-world contexts. 3️⃣ The power of aligning goals with the caregiver's and child's own strengths and passions. These insights are just the beginning. The workshop replays delve into topics like Neurodiverse Affirming Feeding Approaches, Infant Feeding Techniques, and even advanced scenarios of Medically Complex Paediatric Feeding. So, if you're looking to broaden your expertise from the comfort of your own home, our workshop replays offer a rich banquet of strategies and knowledge. Head on over to our Courses and Replays page on our website, and keep growing your skills 👇 https://lnkd.in/gZSeAWBg #PaediatricFeedingSLPTour #FeedingTherapy #WorkshopReplays #LifelongLearning #PaediatricFeeding #LetsGrowTogether

We've had a big one in my private practice this week (actually, the past couple of weeks) with transitions and changes - yep, that scary word - change. My fellow practice directors will know that change in business is inevitable. We need to be flexible with accepting and implementing new and different approaches so our services remain viable and effective. We need to update and change our systems to run efficiently and respond to the needs of our team and the families we work with. But this isn't always easy. And when you do need to make these changes and find your way to the other side (or almost), you realise a couple of things: 1. Planning for change is key 2. Communicating effectively during change is essential - think clear and concise information to guide all involved 3. Your team are amazing and just as eager as you are to ensure the systems we use and services we offer are excellent So, as I join my team in celebrating their support and general awesomeness, I invite you to think about the changes you need to make in your practice and how you can lean on the value-aligned humans that make up your team. #alliedhealthprofessional #teamlove #LetsGrowTogether #businessgrowth

On National Close the Gap Day, we reflect on the powerful words of Nikita Austin from last year's Lunch & Learn on Culturally Responsive Practices with First Nations Clients: "The biggest barrier to First Nations people accessing healthcare is the availability of culturally safe and responsive health systems." We learned that truly culturally safe systems are those that: 🌿 Respect Indigenous cultural values, strengths, and differences. 🌿 Address racism and inequity head-on. But it doesn't stop there. We agree with Nikita that we, as Allied Health Professionals must commit to being culturally responsive, and actively work to overcome racism and power imbalances. This includes engaging directly with Indigenous clients/patients to ensure our services meet their unique needs. As we continue our journey of understanding and action, let's all take a moment today to declare the steps (or leaps) we will take towards closing the gap and creating services that honour and uplift every individual. #CloseTheGap #CulturalSafety #HealthEquity #FirstNationsHealth #NationalCloseTheGapDay #CulturallyResponsiveCare
