"I joined KPMG as graduate in the Tax Rotation Program this year after completing my studies in finance/accounting and music. Between accepting the role and starting, I took on an internship at the Griffith Tax Clinic, where tax students provide free tax assistance to otherwise unrepresented people, to get some direct experience working with clients. That definitely helped and I’ve surprised myself at how much I’ve been able to learn in a short amount of time. Being immersed in a program with such supportive people is what has really developed my skills. The Tax Rotation Program opens up your network as you really get to know the people you’re working with while gaining a good understanding of what other teams do, which is great because some people may go their whole career in one team without ever knowing what it’s like in another area. My rotations so far have been in the Deals Tax and Stamp Duty teams, which have given me great exposure to working alongside other deals-focused teams across the firm and has been a great way to meet new people both in Brisbane and our interstate offices. I particularly enjoy meeting with the client in-person as you get to work alongside them in a collaborative way and flesh out the problem you’re solving. It’s been such a caring environment, and no matter how junior or senior someone is, they are always willing to help you out - which is exactly what you need when you’re starting out in your first professional role. The people in my team and the wider firm are just so good, which was one of the reasons I said yes to KPMG.” Stay tuned for applications opening in February: https://lnkd.in/gVZNHRxW

Yesterday launched the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, a crucial campaign highlighted by sobering statistics: in Australia, a woman loses her life every four days to violence, whilst globally, one in three women faces physical or sexual abuse, most often from intimate partners. KPMG continues to lead in addressing this issue through our comprehensive Domestic and Family Violence Program, including our policy providing 20 days of paid DFV leave, confidential counselling services and emergency accommodation. As part of our broader 16-day program of fundraising and male allyship initiatives, we were honoured yesterday to host Dannielle Miller OAM, Director of Education at Women's Community Shelters, who delivered a powerful keynote address on this national crisis.
