  • There is something seriously wrong with Government IPP's and Corporate Reconcilliation Action Plans when the only Indigenous majority-owned Scaffold company operating in South East Queensland struggles to secure work within the commercial sector in Queensland. As long as 3% is THE target, that is the KPI that major contractors will aim for, and rarely exceed. At Kitja Services Pty Ltd we constantly achieve greater than 10% (averaging 11 for this calendar year). Our understanding is that Bridgeman are achieving greater than 25% on this project alone. Bridgeman do not hit these levels of Indigenous procurement by accident. Their project pipeline should be overflowing with those results. And, Govt could be asking their non-Indigenous competitors why they can't hit these types of numbers? The culture of treating TARGETS as LIMITS needs to be addressed. We've said it before and we'll say it again - to acheive Indigenous engagement excellence push your procurement teams to purchase/procure from Indigenous businesses. Our supply chain is deeper that you could ever imagine. As Indigenous business month winds up we would like to give a massive shout out to our brothers and sisters who continue to push forward in their business journey. #togathertogether. #keepthefireburning

As Indigenous Business Month draws to a close I reflect on my journey into business in general. The emotional support from my Indigenous business network has kept me going at times when I've wondered why I started this crazy journey. Yesterday I visited Adam Sarota of Bridgeman at their construction project, The Wheelhouse on Northshore. Kitja is proud to support Bridgeman, who has provided Kitja Services Pty Ltd with the opportunity to provide scaffold services to the project. If you're a procurement specialist and wonder how you Increase Indigenous engagement on your projects? You procure from Indigenous companies who bring along their Indigenous supply chain. You won't only reach your targets but, you'll exceed them to a point where there is no ceiling. Great catch-up Adam Sarota. What a cracking job brother. You should be extremely proud.

Indigenous firms are 10 times more likely to procure from another Indigenous company than a non-Indigenous company. When you engage with Kitja you are engaging with an Indigenous Supply chain of which you may not be fully aware. When Kitja makes a purchasing decision it is not based purely on cost, but impact and social responsibility. We walk the walk, as evidenced by another order of PPE that arrived from GaWun Supplies today for an upcoming project. If you are wondering how to improve your Indigenous Supply Chain all you have to do is ask. Many thanks to Michael Grundon for your ongoing support and professional service. • It's always great to see the workshop guys delivering quality, no matter how big or small the project. Breathing some new life into this Bulker Trailer, extending its life for a few more years, while supporting our valued client AUSCOIL to keep their fleet running. A massive shout out to Jimmy O'Rourke of Worksite Insight and AUSCOIL for trusting Kitja Services to showcase our execution excellence.
