The State Government invests in a range of gambling help services and communication activities through the Gamblers Rehabilitation Fund (GRF). Investments include prevention, early intervention, and public education activities. The goal? To ensure South Australians are more likely to access help for their own or someone else’s gambling before experiencing crisis and lessen the likelihood of relapse. Our Here For The Game campaign makes a direct contribution to this goal by working to disrupt the normalisation of gambling in sport, raise awareness of the potential for harm sports betting can create and point people to the help available. The positive message that our partner clubs like the Adelaide Giants are sending, is that gambling does not have to go hand in hand with sport and certainly not ruin someone’s experience or enjoyment of sport. Here For The Game is not just for the professional clubs, if you would like to find out how your club can get involved visit: https://lnkd.in/gNXkN8nj #HumanServicesSA #HereForTheGame #GamblingHarmSupportSA

Congratulations to a very talented group of young people aged 13 – 17 who recently completed an 8-week music project! Over the course of the program, the participants came together weekly to write, record, and produce their own songs at Northern Sound System, guided by experienced producers and engineers. This initiative, funded by the Department of Human Services (DHS) and coordinated by our Metropolitan Aboriginal Youth and Family Services (MAYFS) team, provided an incredible opportunity for young people to connect, develop new skills, and gain confidence through their shared passion for music. The program concluded with a celebration and listening party, where participants showcased their songs and received certificates for their hard work. A big thank you to facilitator Njirrah, producer Kirby, the MAYFS team, and everyone involved in bringing this project to life! #HumanServicesSA #MakingADifference #YouthEmpowerment #MusicProduction

This year’s DHS Disability Services end of year celebration was a show-stopper from start to finish! More than 500 staff, clients, and their family members from across South Australia came together to celebrate - leaning into a carnival theme where everyone sported bright and festive colours. All of the brilliant activities and entertainment were thoroughly enjoyed by all! We’re talking a show-stopping stilt-walker, a laughing clown game, hot dogs, temporary festive tattoos and a quiet space for some mindful colouring in. It was a fitting event that provided a great opportunity for everyone to celebrate all that has been achieved this year. A standing ovation for all our wonderful staff and clients, thank you for another wonderful year! If you’re enthusiastic about using your skills to support people with disability to lead their best lives, the DHS Disability Services team wants to hear from you.
