Here’s what you don’t see when you watch our interviews: - Lapel mics! Showing the mic in shot is just lazy filmmaking. In stead, we’ll either hide the lapel mic under clothing or suspend a boom mic just above the person being interviewed. Either way, no mic shall ever be in your shot! - Lighting. We place our lights so that they feel natural and create shape. What we don’t want is the lighting to look flat like it’s a ‘news’ report. In the case where there is a window present, you should feel like the talent has been lit from the ambiance. Of course in the real world relying only on ambience doesn’t work for camera, which is why we place our lights the way we do. - Down lights. Downlighting in buildings is commonplace and usually cannot be turned off but on camera when talent are placed under it, it looks like horror movie lighting! I love this image. This is a frame from clip I shot in 2017 from a hot air balloon while shooting a commercial I produced for the gift experience company RedBalloon. However, I don't think this shot actually made the final cut! It wasn't on the storyboard but just happened to be something I saw and grabbed. Nevertheless, it's a beautiful shot and deserves a little bit of air time every now and then! The exterior of the West Sydney Law Courts building was recently recladded with a product by HVG Facades, so of course they commissioned us to shoot video and stills of the project. Arriving before sunrise and using only a drone, we captured high shots, low shots, tracking shots, wide angles, closeup features, and more. Everything was shot in high resolution 4K video and 48 megapixel still photographs to provide print and broadcast ready files. Our team edited the video, and delivered all stills for worldwide use without restriction.
