We had the best time at The Maali at Perth Zoo on Friday for our WA Geospatial Conference and Awards Dinner. The speaker line-up was fantastic - we learnt more about how we can bring spatial into the boardroom and the critical role of geospatial services in strategic decision-making, gained some insight into the current state of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the geospatial sector, learnt about PNT systems, LiDAR, quantum sensing, and so much more! Thank you very much to our WA Chair, Laren Collen for putting together such a strong program! The opening keynote sessions for our WA Geospatial Conference have been fantastic! Thank you to Mark Nold and Christophe Bourdeau from Accenture for their talk on 'Bringing spatial into the boardroom.' Their talk highlighted the critical role of geospatial services in transforming boardroom discussions and strategic decision-making. Key points included the need for systems of investment and engagement to maximise spatial data value, such as using gaming technology within enhanced spatial platforms and making billion-dollar investment decisions based on spatial insights. This was followed by Lavender (Qingxiang) Liu who spoke about the need for diversity, equity and inclusion in the geospatial sector. She gave us some high-level results of the recent 'Inclusion at Work' Survey. The initial survey indicated strong support for diversity initiatives among employees, though it highlighted significant areas for improvement, including the underrepresentation of women and Indigenous peoples, and instances of discrimination experienced by employees with disabilities. Next up we have our streams. #geospatial #DEI #boardroom
