🌟Digital Inclusion and the Digital Divide🌟 Today's insight from our Top 10 Insights 2024 is Digital Inclusion and the Digital Divide. With one in four Australians still experiencing digital exclusion, our stakeholders report a persistent digital divide, attributed to factors including affordability, accessibility and ability. Industry leaders have told us digital literacy is essential for future education, highlighting the importance of equipping young people with digital skills and problem-solving abilities. 📱Jess Wilson, CEO of Good Things Australia shared: "The estimated annual economic benefit of closing the digital divide for highly excluded Australians is $467M/year. This is a conservative estimation and we expect with more detailed research and available data, this number would increase." 📱In a case study, Katie Gatward, Technology Support Officer at Your Library group, emphasised the importance of libraries in helping people build digital confidence: "Libraries offer a safe space where people feel comfortable asking about technology - questions they often hesitate to ask at home, at work, or in public settings." A heartfelt thank you to Jan Owen AM Hon DLitt and the Learning Creates Australia team for an enlightening couple of days exploring the art of the possible—and undoubtedly, the essential—when it comes to the future of education and skilling. The real stars, as always, were the incredible young people beginning their careers and lifelong learning journeys. They are optimistic about the necessary changes to existing systems and eager to see outdated ones replaced (and quickly). I'm looking forward to seeing the outcomes of the sessions and continuing to support. Future Skills Organisation

🌟Diversity and Inclusion🌟 Today's insight from our Top 10 Insights 2024 is Diversity and Inclusion. Workforce diversity empowers individuals, strengthens businesses and communities and can help to address skills gaps. Our stakeholders have highlighted a growing focus on supporting the diverse needs of all groups and creating inclusive, psychologically safe workplaces where everyone feels valued. Removing barriers is essential to workforce diversity, including addressing the gender pay gap and taking a revised approach to training, recruitment and retention strategies to address low workforce participation of First Nations individuals. 👉Kirstie Wishart, owner of the Starfish Store, shared: "I encourage business owners to consider giving someone with a disability an opportunity. Start with a few hours a day or week, be flexible and open, and you will reap the rewards." 👉In a case study, Dominique Loulie from Ability Works Australia Ltd highlighted the work of OZeWAI and the importance of digital accessibility: "Most companies are starting to prioritise these issues and while progress is being made, there’s still a lot of work to do." 🌟Cyber Security🌟 Today’s insight from our Top 10 Insights 2024 is Cyber Security. We’ve heard from our stakeholders that there continues to be a cyber security skills gap, particularly in mid to high-level skill levels of the cyber workforce.
