Last week, we had the opportunity to engage with the incredible team at Specsavers' Melbourne head office. Through the interactive Road to Vision game, we shared stories of impact, highlighted the life-changing work we're achieving together, and celebrated the vital role Specsavers play in advancing #eyehealth and #equity. The Road to Vision game allowed participants to step into the shoes of individuals navigating the challenges of accessing eye care in remote and underserved communities in Australia. It was a powerful reminder of why our work together matters and the real difference we can make. The event was all about connection—bringing our shared mission to life and fostering a deeper understanding of how we’re working to create a future where everyone has access to quality eye care. A heartfelt thank you to Friendly and everyone who joined us and for Specsavers' ongoing support. Together, we’re making a meaningful impact and changing lives. #partnership #impact #ESG

It’s T-minus 15 days until Christmas, and festive feasting plans are in full swing. Before you rush out to the grocery store, read this post first. 👀 Christmas is a notoriously wasteful time, with so much uneaten food ending up in landfill. As it rots, it releases methane, a greenhouse gas even more potent than carbon dioxide. But a little planning and preparation can help reduce food waste during the festive season. Businesses: if you’ve got extra food that might end up in landfill following Christmas parties, consider becoming a Food Donor with OzHarvest. I love the festive season, but I'm not a big fan of the huge amounts of waste that usually come with it. 🎁 Take gift wrapping, for example. Most of us reach for waxed paper and plastic sticky tape, tied together with a plastic ribbon that’s torn off and thrown into the rubbish in seconds. I’ve started keeping a gift bag in my cupboard with any wrapping or ribbon I receive to reuse on future gifts. It’s a win-win: I never have to buy paper or ribbon, I’m saving money, and I’m helping to reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfill. Swipe for a few simple tips your office can use to reduce waste this festive season. Let me know if you’ve got any other sustainable suggestions in the comments. #FestiveWrapping #ChristmasGifting #ReduceReuseRecycle

I can’t believe I’m writing this, but the festive gifting season is nearly here. I know there are plenty of places to grab gift boxes and branded corporate goodies. But if you’ve got budget to spend on clients, suppliers or staff gifts, I have a suggestion. Mettle Women Inc. is all the good things: Aussie, female-founded and a not-for-profit social enterprise. It’s my go-to spot for buying client gifts (think: foodie hampers and self-care goodies) for so many reasons: ⭐️ Mettle employs women experiencing homelessness due to domestic and family violence, empowering women to build skills, gain employment and ultimately secure stable housing. ⭐️ 100% of profits go towards creating safe futures for other victim-survivors through paid work, scholarships, crisis funds, childcare subsidies and support programs. ⭐️ Plus, Mettle even runs a Safe Work Places e-learning program, helping employers and staff learn how to foster working environments that consider how domestic and family violence impacts an individual's ability to enter and thrive in the workforce. Head to the link in the comments to shop Mettle’s ethical gift box range. #Mettle #SocialEnterprise #CorporateGifting

In recognition of National Recycling Week, our Workplace teams have partnered with clients to deliver engaging campaigns to encourage choices that decrease waste and make mindful consumption choices to benefit the environment. Some of these activities included: • A DIY skincare workshop hosted by Mademoiselle Organic to create eco-friendly ingredients found around the household to minimise packaging and avoid toxins • Teaming up with Friendly to test over 169 participants on the proper disposal of common waste products through games of bin ball • Partnering with Everyday Zero to test over 187 participants on the proper disposal of common waste products through an interactive gaming experience • A recycling competition, which incentivised recycling with participating tenancies We are committed to reducing waste and promoting circular economy principles across our operations. National Recycling Week serves as a fantastic opportunity to share in the journey towards sustainability with clients and tenant communities. #nationalrecyclingweek #nationalrecyclingday #assetmanagement #workplaceserivces #ESG Georgie Redfern | Ryan Dare | Chris Adaley | Maidee Tirado | Lorena Benavides | Kevin Loh | Laura Garcia | Lisa Mhaya | Planet Ark

  • Think a few sheets of paper towel don’t matter? Think again. Almost every office has paper towel stocked in kitchens and bathrooms, going through potentially multiple rolls every day. But here’s the catch: all of this paper towel waste goes straight to landfill and can’t be recycled. Trust us, most people incorrectly think it’s recyclable, too! It must seem small, but every sheet adds up and can turn into tonnes of waste every year. So, what’s the solution? We’d urge your company to consider ways to reduce your reliance on paper towel. For example, is a tea towel service a viable option instead? To learn more about the environmental impacts of paper towel, head to the link in the comments. #PaperTowel #RecyclingTips #BehaviourChange

With National Recycling Week coming up ♻️ I’ve been thinking about some of the most common recycling mistakes I see in our activations at Friendly. And if you use alt milk (like oat, soy or almond milk) in your morning coffee, you might be making this mistake, too. See that symbol at the bottom left of this Tetra Pak? At a glance, it’s easy to think it’s recyclable. But on closer inspection, it actually reads “Check locally” (a.k.a. You’ll need to check for local beverage carton recycling options and nearby drop-off locations in your area - head to the link in the comments to find your nearest spot). This is no shade to the Australiasian Recycling Label system either - this system is doing great work to help to reduce waste from ending up in landfill. But, in my experience, this symbol tends to confuse a lot of people. While Tetra Pak has a few pros, like being lightweight and requiring less energy to transport and refrigerate, it’s not easily recyclable and often contaminates Mixed Recycling (as plastic and foil are used to store the liquid inside). Honestly, I’d much prefer not to use these bottles to begin with! Do you have a good recommendation for a packaging alternative? I’d love to hear your suggestions in the comments. #Recycling #AustraliasianRecyclingLabel #TetraPak

  • Have you experienced Trash Toss IRL? 🗑️🏀 Not to play favourites, but this activation is a bunch of fun - and we designed it that way. When it comes to behaviour change, simple signage telling staff about what items go in which bin isn’t going to cut it. Instead, Trash Tos dives into the ‘why’ behind recycling contamination and gives attendees the context they need to make their own informed decisions. Plus, we gamify the experience by giving players the chance to earn points, climb a leaderboard and earn sustainable prizes along the way. Talk about a win-win! Curious about how our Trash Toss activation works? Shoot us a DM and say hi. 👋 #TrashToss #BehaviourChange #RecyclingTips

Joining forces with companies prioritising ESG is why I love what I do. Over the past few months, Friendly has teamed up with Suncorp Group to facilitate a series of activations across three of their office spaces, including: 🌱 Heritage Lane (80 Ann Street), Suncorp’s Brisbane HQ 🌱 10 Shelly Street, Suncorp’s Sydney HQ 🌱 530 Collins Street, Suncorp’s Melbourne HQ These activations form part of Suncorp’s contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals, a set of 17 goals that define global sustainable priorities and aspirations for 2030, adopted by the UN General Assembly. From commitments to becoming a low-emissions and resource-efficient organisation to creating a Climate Change Action Plan to build resilience in their business and the wider community, we’re excited to have engaged Suncorp’s staff across three locations to activate their ESG goals. #Suncorp #ESG #CorporateResponsibility
