About us
The Fremantle Biennale is a biennial festival of site-responsive contemporary art. Our largely free program engages diverse audiences and reveals, interrogates and celebrates the cultural, social and historical distinctiveness of the Fremantle region. The Fremantle Biennale provides a platform for artist-led art and ideas, and is recognised for commissioning and presenting innovative and thought provoking contemporary culture from Australia and the world. The Fremantle Biennale acknowledges the Whadjuk people of the Nyoongar nation as the traditional owners of the greater Fremantle/Walyalup area. We acknowledge and respect the living culture and heritage of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the significant role they play in our community.
