  • AI AI AI hot topic and will continue to be. I respond to a comment that says AI is faster. “2hrs to create a burger through AI faster? Imagine doing this for a whole burger menu! Once lighting is set up and all patties are prepped I’d argue shooting real is faster. Shoot as much in camera and there’s not much editing. Authenticity in food is so important unless you are a big chain who unfortunately has already tarred their brand with unrealistic imagery. They will get away with this as we as the consumer already know that what they present is far from what we really get. The independents though have more to loose and ‘showing up’ real is imperative to their brand. We need to honour the chefs, the producers of fresh produce and the brands identity. Keep it real and allow AI to assist as a tool not as the creator. Just my thoughts” I’d love to see a challenge with Karl Taylor and an AI generator develop a whole hamburger menu session.

Earlier, under my post about consistent coffee generation in Midjourney, I had a discussion with Design Director Tom Ambrose about creatives' demands for a more controlled and streamlined AI process. Yesterday, I received a request from a prospective client, and now I have something new to show you on this topic. Test Task: Create an AI-rendered image of a burger on a white background. The order of the layers (from top to bottom) should be 🍔 Bun Herb sauce Patty Red onion Sliced tomato Iceberg lettuce Herb sauce Bun 🍔 The first generations in DALL-E, which was expected to have a better understanding of complex queries, showed that it would fail - not enough photorealism. Imagine an object from a Pixar cartoon rendered on Unreal Engine 5 - and you will understand the current maximum for DALL-E in this aspect. The recently released Midjourney 6 alpha, which is even more photorealistic than 5.2, widens the gap. All the work was done in it, and there were no problems with proper layer ordering, as you can see. It took 2 hours to create the correct burger, and the proportions were Midjourney - 50% Photoshop Generative Fill - 35%. Photoshop retouching - 15%. #midjourney #aigenerated #burgers #foodphotography
