Fighting hunger by sourcing and distributing food for people in need.

About us

Foodbank is Australia’s largest food relief organisation, providing food relief to over 652,00 Australians each month through our charity partners and school programs. We achieve this by working with the Australian food and grocery industry which provides surplus and donated product. We also collaborate with farmers, manufacturers, suppliers and the government on programs to produce key staple foods such as breakfast cereals, milk, pasta, canned foods and sausages. Our mission is to deliver the most food to the most Australians in need in the most efficient way. Hunger • Over 4 million Australians have experienced food insecurity in the last 12 months • Over half of Australians experiencing food insecurity are employed • The high cost of living is the main cause of food insecurity for Australians How we help • Foodbank distributes food to over 652,000 Australians every month, of which 27% are children • More than four out of five recipients of food relief say the benefits of this assistance made a difference in their life

  • Last night we attended the Christmas Celebration at Carevan Blacktown Inc. 🎄💜💚 It was a night filled with joy, fun and the festive spirit catering to almost 200 people to give back to the local community members. Carevan Blacktown hosted a beautiful Sunday roast accompanied by a live singer, and topped off with gifts and Foodbank Christmas hampers for all, handed out by Santa! • This year, we’ve brought food to communities far and wide, reaching so many in need. 💜✨ Hosting 27 Fresh Produce Pop-Ups across NSW and the ACT has only been possible thanks to the incredible efforts of our partners, volunteers and supporters. For our final Fresh Produce Pop-Up of 2024, we teamed up with the incredible Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network (MPHN) to give back to the wonderful community in Young! We distributed up to 7,000 kgs of fresh fruit, veggies and pantry staple, equating to over 10,000 meals out to local families to give a helping hand just in time for the holiday season. To top it off, Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network provided free vaccinations, ensuring the community stays healthy and safe. #FreshProducePopUp #FoodbankNSWACT #FBNA #CommunitySupport #FoodDistribution #MurrumbidgeePHN #Young

  • Attention, Young and surrounding areas! We’re thrilled to announce that this Thursday, we’ll be in your town with a truckload of FREE fresh fruit, veggies and pantry staples—just for you! Together with our amazing partners at Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network (MPHN) we’re hosting a Fresh Produce Pop-Up to help fill your reusable bags with nutritious essentials and free vaccinations. 📍 Where: Young Railway Station, Lovell St, Young NSW 2594 📅 When: Thursday, 12 December 2024 ⏰ Time: 9:30 AM Don’t miss out—come by, say hello, and stock up on fresh produce!

People facing food insecurity have the chance to access essential supplies at an upcoming Foodbank pop-up event in Young. Scheduled for Thursday 12 December, from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm, the event will be held at Young Railway Station, Lovell Street, Young. Attendees are encouraged to bring reusable bags. Foodbank NSW & ACT Chief Operating Officer Samantha Prescott said the event will provide essential, fresh, and nutritious produce for those experiencing food insecurity. ‘We’ll be bringing up to 7 tonnes of fresh produce to the pop up, which will ensure hundreds of families have access to enough fresh food for an entire week,’ Ms Prescott said. ‘It’s a particularly timely event, given the anticipated increase in calls for assistance to local support services as the cost of living continues to rise. ‘If you’re concerned about having access to fresh food, please come along; we’ll have a team of friendly volunteers ready to help you select what you’d like. ‘We’d like to thank Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network for partnering with us to organise the pop up, and Hilltops Council for all their help in bringing this event to fruition; it’s been a combined effort.’ Read more 👉 https://lnkd.in/gwiDhbqN

🌟 Supporting Community Safety and Skills Development 🌟 This morning, I had the privilege of attending the presentation of a Transurban Community Fund Grant to Foodbank NSW & ACT in Glendenning , alongside Andrew Battishall, Project Director of the M7-M12 Integration Project. The grant was presented by Andrew and Blacktown MP Stephen Bali to Foodbank CEO John Robertson. This grant will support a Driver Training Program for Staff and Volunteers, enabling up to 40 drivers and organisational staff to participate in vital training programs. These programs are designed to enhance safety, education, and incident prevention when operating Foodbank's diverse fleet of vehicles. Key training initiatives include: 🚗 Specialised safety skills and confidence training with NRMA, providing essential car licence driver familiarisation across the fleet, including Rangers, vans, and light trucks up to 4.5 tonnes. 🚛 A one-day On-Road Towing course, offering advanced skills for securely driving and manoeuvring trailers. This investment in skill-building and safety is a testament to the meaningful impact partnerships like this can have on community organisations.
