Thank you ESG Investor for hosting Nature Data for Institutional Investors! It was an honor to sponsor alongside S&P Global, Bloomberg, Maanch, and many others. Here’s what we heard and our key takeaways… 🌲 “2025 will be a vital year for #deforestation.” - There have been numerous public commitments to end deforestation within the next 12 months and that exposure is tied to hundreds of billions within our economy. With 20 countries accounting for 80% of all global deforestation, #EUDR for commodities including #beef, #soy, and #coffee, will be a priority for many. 📈 “We are starting to see a financial system that can begin to put nature on a balance sheet and companies that are actively transitioning to nature-positive business models.” - Let’s face it… nature risk is climate risk is financial risk and the #TNFD has now surpassed 500 organizations globally. FLINTpro is a recommended Nature-related data tool: https://lnkd.in/ebwKzD46 🐞 “Money talks. It’s all well and good to have ethics, but if money is not finding its way to the custodians of biodiversity, then you have failed.” - Discussions continued coming out of COP16 on the Global Biodiversity Framework (#GBF) on halting and reversing biodiversity loss by 2030. Be sure to check out FLINTpro’s latest module for Global Biodiversity assessments. We hosted a fireside chat featuring guests from New Forests and Pollination following this year’s Global Nature Positive Summit. Our Co-Founder and Chief Science, Policy & Innovation Officer, Rob Waterworth and our new Advisory Council member David Brand, Ph.D., expressed the urgency for nature to be accounted for. If you are responsible for target setting, decreasing #emissions, or meeting upcoming regulations like #CSRD or #EUDR, it will be important: ✔️ To understand your land’s emissions may currently be tied to a national average but accuracy can be costly and may lack the historical data to avoid penalties ✔️ Biodiversity dependencies including ‘species density’ or ‘water risk’ ✔️ Future projections that provide you with the optimal opportunities for your land, or the investments you’ve made in specific commodities Conduct a risk assessment if you own, invest in, or source from land. 📸 Snapshots from our global team ‘onsite’ in Canberra. Our team members from across the globe traveled to Australia and enjoyed morning walks through the stunning Jerrabomberra Wetlands with views of Kangaroo mobs and cappuccinos made from local #coffee roasters. We held several cross-functional workshops to reflect on the ever-evolving business landscape, discussed our strategic vision, listened to client testimonials, and linked anticipated market trends with our roadmap. We heard from our leading scientific experts about upcoming changes in regulatory reporting and their contributions to the final release of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG Protocol) Land Sector Removals and Guidance (link to project overview is below). We were reminded that we’re all part of one planet and every action counts. It is because of this passionate and innovative team that our company remains the market leader for nature analytics. #Impact #Innovation #teamwork #sustainability #leadership

#COP16 brought a stark reminder for CFOs & CROs that biodiversity isn’t just a moral issue; it’s a financial imperative. Every deforested acre or polluted waterway adds unseen liabilities to balance sheets but can present opportunity as well. Our Chief Financial Officer, Kurt McFarland penned our latest article having been on the ground in Cali, Colombia, with the innovators and change-makers addressing nature’s value for capital markets: https://lnkd.in/eDENmc68 Key insights: 🔑 Biodiversity loss = rising financial risks 🔑 Transparency in methodologies requires high-quality, relevant data 🔑 Investing in natural capital delivers real returns Want to discuss how biodiversity serves as a business driver? 📈 Not all data is created equal. Did you know that land use liability can be 20 years or more? According to the GHG-P, scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions due to land conversion in your #valuechain need to be shown over a 20-year timeframe. This is one reason why, at FLINTpro, we use datasets with various resolutions to ensure your risk assessments are multidimensional and account for bias, coverage, and cost. Higher resolution data doesn’t always give you the information needed to accurately assess your #emissions liability. Get to know why our data is different. 🔍 CASE STUDY: By leveraging a detailed #risk assessment this multinational food manufacturer was able to reduce future data expenditures by over 90% and gain valuable insights about their #supplychain sourcing regions. The Challenge: Assessing #deforestation and land conversion risks across vast supply regions, where initial global assessments had categorized certain areas as “low-risk.” However, increased scrutiny on tree-cover loss from #beef production required a more nuanced, localized analysis—particularly in areas linked to indigenous-owned and managed lands. Read more about how FLINTpro used a region-specific, data-driven approach that combined forest-cover-loss drivers and temporal sources to pinpoint areas requiring action, helping the company prioritize resources effectively and avoid extensive and costly evaluations.

In this new video Tina Morris, CEO of FLINTpro discusses with Alex Novarro, PhD, Director of Nature at Trellis Group, critical issues companies are facing as they navigate biodiversity data and climate action including: 🔑 Key Challenges: Data is overwhelmingly noisy and complex, and data-useful decisions are difficult without internal resources guiding operationally feasible decisions. Take advantage of FLINTpro’s science team including lead authors of the IPCC and GHG-P. 🔑 Transparent Methodology: The importance of high-quality, credible data sets to confidently assess a global footprint year-over-year with clear explanations for how we calculated results. 🔑 Taking Action: Our clients come to FLINTpro to understand “how do I tackle this?” And, with baseline assessments, we can measure how interventions lead to long-term benefits through scenario planning a nature-positive future. At #Bloom24, part of #COP16, in Cali, Colombia, our executive team met with several global business leaders looking to implement #biodiversity as part of their upcoming goals. It was painfully clear that the next COP will not be about what you plan to do, but what you have done. Take the steps today to complete your risk assessment, protect #biodiversity and drive nature-positive outcomes…contact your regional lead today at flintpro.com/contact. https://lnkd.in/e6kW5ZN6 🐢 #IYKYK #Sustainability #Climate #Nature
