The CUB Club of United Business CUB #awards was amazing and a testament to the amazing work Daniel Hakim and team have done in building #australia’s best business club (more like a team)! It was awesome to have the team from NAB there to sponsor and announce awards, and the ever popular business wizard himself, Mark Bouris AM . Emanda Group was up for the Technology awards and we are so delighted to have been finalists! Mona Zia from Avant Tech Pty Ltd and our the Emanda team couldn’t both win it, but we still got a celebration photo in and let someone else take it out. Congrats to all the winners! More so, congrats to Emily Grinton , Ben Ashby , Jacqui Bloom , Reena Dhana , Luna Andreux , Carl Tomich on building up Emanda so fast! Stella team with amazing business story telling skills. At the end of the first ever annual awards, the Most Valuable Member award was announced and I’m extremely humbled to have won! I’ve been a CUB member for well over 6 years now. I was given a fun award once by Daniel Hakim when I first exited Vibrato and since then, I’ve started, sold, invested in, consulted to and guided hundreds of businesses, some in and out of CUB. Along the way, in true CUB spirit, I’ve always tried to give as much as I can to #business owners and founders as I’m passionate about seeing everyone’s empire grow and everyone get through the business grind together. Thank you for the recognition… 14 KOR sessions lead and counting… wooot! A massive thanks to the amazing Holly Wilson who has built Melbourne to be the power house it is! Obviously thanks to the amazing Brianna Clipperton for probably selecting me, but also being our relationship manager and connecting me/us to all the businesses. Tara Crisp, you put up with myself and team whenever we are in or (please don’t kill me) not, because I forgot something last minute even though you sms remind me 3 times. And the amazing Emily Kotrotsos and Molly Evans for always bringing people together and making them feel on top of the world at the club house. Identifying technical debt in your day-to-day activities can be tricky. Often, you might not even realise you're accumulating technical debt until after the fact. Personally, I like to listen for signs of technical debt in conversations with colleagues and clients. Recognising the signs of technical debt in your discussions is a crucial early step in making conscious decisions about managing it. So, what does tech debt sound like, here are a few examples I have heard over the years: ➡ "Just configure the server manually this time; we'll automate it later." ➡ "We'll handle the security concerns in our next sprint." ➡ "This feature is no longer required; let’s not remove the code right now, as it might break some existing functionality." ➡ "Skip the documentation for now; we'll write it once the project is stable" ➡ "Don't worry about test cases, we can write them later." ➡ "Let's just comment out the failing tests so we can push the release." ➡ "Just install whatever version works on your machine; we'll fix the environment discrepancies later."
