  • We’re proud to have delivered another successful Australian Cyber Conference hosted by the Australian Information Security Association (AISA) and organised by the Cornerstone Events team. Each year #CyberCon just gets bigger and better, and with over 5,500 attendees, this was the largest one to date! Held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, with this year’s theme being 'Future is Now', the event brought together some of the greatest minds in cyber to provide business leaders with insights and best practices taught by the industry’s top experts. Running over 3 action packed days, the program featured captivating keynotes, engaging panel sessions, insightful thought leadership, and live demonstrations, offering a comprehensive experience for all attendees. The interactive format of the conference kept delegates engaged through a range of think tanks, plenary session and valuable networking opportunities, plus a vibrant exhibition hall showcasing the latest industry solutions. The AISA Awards Night celebrated the outstanding achievements of individuals within the industry—a wonderful way to recognise excellence and innovation. And, of course, the much-anticipated Block Party gave delegates a chance to let their hair down, network, and enjoy a delicious array of food and drinks in a fun and vibrant atmosphere.   • The Cornerstone Events team was honoured to work with Rare Voices Australia on planning and delivering the 2024 National Rare Disease Summit (the Summit), hosted at the wonderful Rydges South Bank Brisbane. 🌟 With the theme 'Progress Beyond Policy', the Summit provided a platform to advance the implementation of the Australian Government’s National Strategic Action Plan for Rare Diseases (the Action Plan). Bringing together people living with a rare disease, government representatives, researchers, clinicians, and industry, the Summit was a powerful step towards achieving the Action Plan’s vision: the best possible health and wellbeing outcomes for Australians living with a rare disease. The two-day event featured engaging plenary sessions, dynamic panel discussions, interactive workshops, and invaluable networking opportunities. Adding to the vibrancy of the event was the ever-charismatic radio host; actor; comedian; and television producer, Julian Morrow, as Master of Ceremonies. A huge thank you to Rare Voices Australia and all the attendees who made this event impactful and inspiring.   • Cornerstone Events had the pleasure of crafting a special week for some valued clients, immersing them in the very best of Adelaide and its picturesque surroundings. With the wonderful EOS by SkyCity as home base for one group and Mayfair Hotel hosting another, the event kicked off at the National Wine Centre of Australia, where attendees enjoyed a gorgeous spring evening in the courtyard complete with fantastic wine and food.   Day two began with a productive business session, followed by four groups heading to the renowned Barossa Valley for exclusive wine tastings at Hentley Farm, St Hugo’s, Saltram, and Jacobs Creek. The day wrapped up with a spectacular dinner in the Signature Cellar at Yalumba—an afternoon and evening to remember! 🍷 ✨   For day three, a choice of curated activities were offered including a round of golf, a Hahndorf experience complete with strudel-making and a walking tour, an Adelaide Oval roof climb, tour and specialty lunch, or a guided tour of the Coopers and Pirate Life Breweries. The trip culminated with an outstanding evening at Penfolds Magill Estate, with champagne in the tasting room, followed by dinner in the tunnels, amongst the history of this special winery!   • Growing Delegate Numbers: Quality vs. Quantity 📈 At Cornerstone Events, we know the pressure to maximise delegate numbers can be intense. After all, a packed room often feels like a clear sign of success. But does boosting attendance always translate to a better event? In our experience, a thoughtful balance between quantity and quality is what truly sets impactful events apart. Sure, higher delegate numbers can mean increased ticket sales and more opportunities for networking. But we’ve also seen how prioritising numbers alone can sometimes come sometimes lead to: 🔹 Diluted Engagement: Large crowds can dilute those personal, memorable connections that make events meaningful. 🔹 Compromised Experience: Overcrowding can lead to logistical issues and a diminished overall experience for attendees. 🔹 Increased Pressure: The drive to boost numbers might push organisers to prioritise marketing tactics over genuine value and relevance. So, where should the focus be? Is it better to prioritise a smaller, more engaged audience, or should the drive be to attract as many delegates as possible, even if it means potential compromises in quality?
