CK Architecture is proud to share progress on the new facility for the Gugan Gulwan Youth Aboriginal Corporation in Wanniassa, a project that celebrates cultural leadership, sustainability, and community. Originally designed by Cox Architects, the building’s construction is being managed by CK Architecture as construction phase architects, with Projex as the builder. This purpose-built centre will enable Gugan Gulwan to expand its vital services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, youth, and families in Canberra. Its design is deeply rooted in cultural respect and storytelling, featuring a private central gathering place and a fire pit for traditional and contemporary practices. The building reflects the stories of pre-colonisation, post-colonisation, and ongoing connections to Country through artwork and interpretive elements. A key highlight of the facility is the stunning inclusion of glass bogong moths by artist Holly Grace, which symbolise renewal, resilience, and the deep cultural significance of this native species. These delicate and evocative artworks, alongside the building’s striking façade—composed of 43 intricately detailed precast panels averaging eight tonnes each—illustrate the architectural and artistic ambition of this unique project. We look forward to seeing this remarkable facility come to life and witnessing its lasting impact on the community. At CK Architecture, we embraced the opportunity to redefine the educational landscape of Karabar High School in Karabar, NSW. Conceived as part of the NSW Regional Modernisation program, this project represents a forward-thinking approach to learning spaces, blending functionality and sustainability. The project replaces six demountable classrooms with a permanent structure that embodies quality, equity, and longevity. At its core, the design envisions an environment where students thrive—an inclusive space rooted in opportunity, fostering a sense of belonging and inspiration. The design is centred around flexibility and future-focused pedagogy, embodying a spatial language that encourages collaboration, adaptability, and engagement. The new single-storey senior learning building unfolds as a seamless extension of its environment, housing six flexible General Learning Spaces (GLS) designed to transform with the dynamic needs of the learner. The Karabar High School redevelopment articulates CK Architecture’s commitment to creating meaningful spaces that resonate beyond function, elevating the everyday through thoughtful design. This is a place where education is more than a curriculum; it is a lived experience that connects individuals, fosters curiosity, and empowers futures. #EducationalDesign #FutureFocusedLearning #SustainableArchitecture #CommunityEngagement #CKArchitecture #SchoolRedevelopment #InnovativeSpaces #AustralianArchitecture #DesignForEducation #NSWEducation #CanberraEducationArchitects #Rodigovargasphotography #equitone_anz #awsaustralia #duluxaus #autexacoustics #millikenfloorsanz #tarkettofficial #newageveneers #wortleygroup

The Pumphouse Makerspace CK Architecture is thrilled to have been part of the transformation of The Pumphouse Makerspace, a historic landmark now reimagined as a vibrant hub for creators, makers, and innovators in the Albury region. We were honoured to attend the opening last Wednesday. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, and it’s been incredible to see the space come alive with energy and creativity. Our team—Justine, Frank, David, Myles, Gabby, Rick and Rowan—collaborated on the renovation and remediation of this iconic heritage building, balancing its rich history with the needs of a state-of-the-art creative space. A huge thank you to the staff and everyone involved in this project from Monarch Builders, Albury City Council, BSG, Barrat Consulting, Alannah King, Xeros Piccolo, for their dedication and hard work. It’s a joy to see The Pumphouse becoming a beacon for the creative community. #ThePumphouseMakerspace #HeritageRestoration #AdaptiveReuse #CreativeCommunity #InnovatorsHub #AlburyArchitecture #IconicRestoration #SpacesThatInspire #DesignForInnovation #ArchitectureForCommunity #ckarchitecture #mbs

The interior glazing at Yass High School is a defining element, capturing the innovative and STEM-driven ethos of the institution. Thoughtfully crafted, the glazing graphics draw inspiration from the periodic table, local ecosystems, and the complexity of circuit diagrams. This interplay of scientific and natural motifs transforms the glazing into more than a functional partition—it becomes a narrative surface, inviting students to engage with the intricate connections between science, technology, and the world around them. This project exemplifies our commitment to designing spaces that are not only places of learning but environments that inspire curiosity, growth, and a vision for the future.
