As part of a new charity partnership with Inclusion Solutions, CCIWA’s Charity Initiative is excited to power GROW WA to help create more welcoming and accessible workplaces for people with disabilities. GROW WA will work to empower businesses and individuals to champion social inclusion in the workplace. The initiative includes a four-part webinar series (with the first webinar held recently, see link below) and a full-day conference and networking event in April. The webinars and conference will be free to access, to support any employer who is interested in disability inclusion. “CCIWA and Inclusion Solutions are both very focused on improving businesses in WA, to make our State the best place to live, work and do business,” says CCIWA Charity Initiative President Chris Nunn (MAHRI). “Disability inclusion is a space that many of our Members want to do better in, so we’re very motivated to make this work as accessible as possible." CCIWA hosted senior executives from the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER) to update Members on State approvals reform following the Vogel-McFerran Review. Businesses from across agriculture, mining, transport, and energy sectors were in attendance. DWER highlighted the recent signing of an MoU with other regulatory departments, the introduction of Statement of Expectations, the establishment of a Perth CBD office, efforts for cultural change and staff retention, and the new cross-sector triage team. Members were also involved in a facilitated discussion about future opportunities for reform. CCIWA has long championed approvals reform at both State and Federal levels, with last year's Green Web report a key driver of the current reforms.
