Cell Therapies Pty Ltd. is excited to announce the opening of new cell and gene therapy GMP manufacturing facilities to meet future patient demand at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. As Australia’s only biomedical manufacturing facility where CAR T-cells and other “living” cancer therapies can be made at a commercial scale, this expansion increases capacity to support high throughput manufacture of commercial cell and gene therapy products for Australian patients and the Asia Pacific market. “The facilities in Melbourne, Australia, are now on par with only a handful of sites globally and combined with a highly specialised workforce, mean we have the ability to make more of these innovative treatments to support the growing demand in APAC,” said Acting Chief Executive of Cell Therapies Pty Ltd, Associate Professor Dominic Wall. Great insights from our very own CEO Bev Menner, who recently featured on Aleda's 'Empowering Leaders' podcast to share her experiences in the biotech industry and the unique challenges and opportunities faced. Watch the full episode to hear her thoughts on leadership in biotech and the drive to make a meaningful impact on patients' lives. 👇
Today’s guest on the Empowering Leaders podcast is Bev Menner, CEO of Cell Therapies Pty Ltd, a biotech company leading the way in next generation cancer and immune disease therapies. With an affinity for science and a genuine love of people and connection, Bev has had an extraordinarily successful and varied career in the field of medical science. Here, she tells Luke Darcy how all her former roles have prepared her in some way for her current position; leading a team of cell and gene therapy experts who are saving the lives of those affected by cancer. In this episode, Bev talks about being at the coalface of the hugely collaborative development of the Covid vaccine, and what she hopes we can learn from that period to better prepare society on a more holistic level in the future. She also discusses her positive experience being raised in an adoptive family, her love of the Aleda Connect program, the fascinating world of wallaby lactation and much more.
