About us
BAI Communications is bringing fresh, independent thinking to the connectivity landscape for broadcasters, governments, mobile network operators, private enterprises, transport, and venues. Operating one of the most extensive broadcast networks in the world, we deliver fully managed television and radio services covering 99% of the Australian population. In times of crisis, such as natural disasters, national broadcasters rely on BAI to maintain their communications with Australians, and emergency services trust us to keep them connected and informed. With the acceleration of 5G technology, BAI leverages its global experience to enable ubiquitous coverage in buildings, tunnels, stadiums and other congested hard to cover areas, as well as contributing to the creation of smart precincts. Having grown from its origins in Australia, BAI Communications now operates as a separate organisation in the Northern Hemisphere, Boldyn Networks. With full support of our common majority shareholder, CPP Investments, and minority shareholder, AIMCo (Alberta Investment Management Corporation), we remain closely aligned, and will leverage the shared history and experience of Boldyn as we look to create a digital future for Australia.

This STEPtember, the BAI team went the extra mile! We stepped, walked, marched, skipped, and ran to support people living with cerebral palsy and the Cerebral Palsy Alliance. With 30 teams on board, each participant averaged an incredible 300,000 steps, and one superstar came close to hitting a staggering 1 million steps! Together, we achieved an astonishing 31,235,312 steps and raised vital funds along the way. To amplify our impact, BAI is matching all donations made by our team. STEPtember is Australia’s most inclusive virtual health and well-being fundraising challenge, empowering participants to help create a world of opportunities for people living with cerebral palsy. Deborah Bodger, Account Director, Critical Communications, shared: "What a great challenge to fundraise and build a walking habit! I might not have made it into the Top 10 Steppers, but I managed at least 10,000 steps daily — something I’m inspired to continue as a lifestyle habit." Ready to take on the challenge? We recently participated in MilCIS 2024, Australia’s premier event focusing on topics around military communications and information systems. This annual gathering brought together leaders from government, defence, and industry to explore cutting-edge technologies and their role in mission-critical environments. Our experts, including John Radge and Daniel Lawrence, engaged in meaningful conversations about the sector’s communications challenges and the innovations addressing them. Key themes like cybersecurity, AI, and satellite connectivity dominated the agenda, reflecting the evolving needs of defence operations. John Radge: “It was amazing to see firsthand the extensive use cases for private mobile networks (PMN) used in defence from small footprint PMNs, used in drones and backpacks, to COW’s (cell on wheels) for use on the front line.” We were excited to share how BAI’s private mobile network solutions deliver the reliability, security, and efficiency essential for defence applications. By enabling seamless, secure communications, our technology supports operational resilience in even the most demanding scenarios. We look forward to continuing to collaborate with industry and defence stakeholders to drive innovation in this critical sector. As part of the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts' Broadcast Resilience Program (BRP), BAI is enhancing broadcast resilience across regional and remote sites hosting Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) local radio and emergency communications services. In support of the BRP, our team is installing gensets to provide standby power to selected sites across Australia. The gensets – stationary power supply sources that consist of an engine and a generator with automatic transfer switching - bring resilient standby power to the BAI network. With onboard fuel providing several days of runtime, surrounding communities will have access to broadcasts in case of a power failure during times of natural disaster. The devices also enable emergency services to communicate reliably and to coordinate relief efforts. The BAI team and our partners are working tirelessly behind the scenes to get the gensets ready for the upcoming emergency season, ensuring they are set up for optimal performance. Getting the calibration just right can make a big difference for efficiency during the life of the asset.
