The API standards team have undertaken a review of the Valuation Protocol published by the API on 3 September 2021 and updated the content, including changes to the sample clauses based on legal input and the addition of another scenario for when the Valuer has confirmation that the cladding is compliant. This Valuation Protocol comes into effect on 1 January 2025. The API permits and encourages earlier adoption. We’re excited to announce a new training module, 'Sustainability - ESG for the Valuation Profession'. This module is designed specifically to address the practicalities of reporting and sourcing evidence of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors in line with the upcoming changes to the International Valuation Standards (IVS), which will take effect on 31 January 2025. The module is highly recommended for all API members involved in property valuation, particularly those who work with clients who are increasingly prioritising ESG factors in their decision-making, and professionals who wish to gain a deeper understanding of the integration of ESG in valuation practice and the compliance requirements set by the revised IVS. RMIT University's School of Property, Construction, and Property Management, on behalf of the API, is conducting a survey on how residential valuers assess energy-efficient technologies in property valuations. This research aims to investigate how valuers currently understand this emerging issue and identify and develop ways to support members as we move towards more energy efficient housing stock. The survey takes only 10-15 minutes to complete and responses will be completely anonymous. For any questions or if you need assistance with the survey, please reach out to Dr. Neville Hurst at [email protected].
