This is the defibrillator (AED) that saved my daughter’s life. Six months ago, at netball, I faced the unimaginable when my 15-year-old suffered a cardiac arrest mid-game. Thanks to the quick actions of parents and the presence of this device, she’s still with us today. I’ll never stop being grateful to the community members who stepped in when every second counted. Their actions prove how critical these devices are. This Christmas, I would love you to consider gifting an AED — St John Ambulance Australia (National Office) has offered $500 discount off the G5 AED to make it easier so please DM for the link. And as a New Year’s Resolution, I would encourage everyone, especially my event colleagues around the world, to ask every venue, business, and community space whether they have a defibrillator on hand and make it part of your risk plans. Let’s make it a standard everywhere! To my network, please REPOST, comment, and tag businesses, schools, sports clubs, and venues that might not have one yet—let’s bring them on this journey to make our communities safer. One small action today could mean everything tomorrow. For us, it meant we still have our beautiful girl. Here are the facts; ➡️ One person dies from a cardiac arrest every 5.25 seconds. ➡️ Young, fit, healthy people with no pre-existing conditions suffer from a cardiac arrest every day. ➡️ For every minute without defibrillation following a sudden cardiac arrest, the chance of survival drops by 10%. ➡️ Only an AED will restart the heart following a cardiac arrest. ➡️ 50% of all cardiac arrests cannot be explained ➡️ In Australia, only 8% of people that suffer a cardiac arrest survive, simply because an AED was not available
