Celebrating 50 Years of Vietnamese Settlement in Australia in 2025 The Vietnamese Community in Australia (VCA) NSW Chapter recently hosted a dinner at Canley Heights to fundraise for this milestone occasion. Peter Thang Ha, President of VCA NSW, welcomed Deputy Director Michael Baldwin who spoke about our ambition to exhibit the historic fishing boat "Tự Do" (meaning Freedom), which arrived in 1977 carrying 31 Vietnamese refugees seeking a new life. Additionally, a dedicated Vietnamese panel will be unveiled on the Welcome Wall, Australia's National Monument to Migration. This exciting exhibition will honour the contributions of Vietnamese migrants to Australia. Saving Sydney's Seahorses! 🌊 The delicate White's Seahorse (Hippocampus whitei) is facing threats to its survival. The Sydney Seahorse Project is a collaborative project between the Sydney Institute of Marine Science, the University of Technology Sydney, and the New South Wales Department of Primary Industries, which aims to conserve the Endangered White’s seahorse. In July 2023, over 350 juvenile White’s seahorses were released into Chowder Bay, Mosman. Look at these little lovelies filmed by @mikejonesdive in Chowder Bay recently. You can help by: 📍Reporting sightings: Share your photos of White's Seahorses on iNaturalist. 🐋Supporting conservation efforts 🌊Reducing your impact: Make sustainable choices to protect our oceans. Together, we can ensure a brighter future for these incredible creatures. Now that's a race we are happy to support!
