🌟 Reflecting on an incredible 2024 with the ACEMID team! 🌟 As we wrap up the year, it's the perfect time to highlight the milestones that made 2024 a standout year for ACEMID. ✅ January: Huge congratulations to Melanoma Institute Australia's Prof Richard Scolyer, alongside Prof Georgina Long, named Joint Australian of the Year for their outstanding contributions to melanoma research. We are proud to have you on our team! ✅ February: We celebrated a major achievement as the first participant in our cohort study at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane completed all study appointments. At the same time, Mt Isa Hospital (QLD), welcomed its first participant, and our Melanoma Institute Australia imaging site was featured on 9News.🎬 ✅ April: We participated in the Parliamentary Friends of Melanoma & Skin Cancer in Canberra and filmed the 'Conquering Skin Cancer' documentary with Moonshine Agency, showcasing our work in melanoma prevention and detection. ✅ May: We celebrated some incredible milestones: Prof Monika Janda secured an National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Investigator Grant, and Prof Rachael Morton won the Australian Clinical Trials Alliance HEAT Excellence in Trial-Based Health Economics Award.🏆 We also launched a new imaging site in Orange (NSW), and had a strong presence at the ACD - The Australasian College of Dermatologists' Annual Scientific Meeting. ✅ June: Another exciting step forward with the launch of our new imaging site in Wagga Wagga (NSW). ✅ July: We were selected as a finalist for the Australian Museum Eureka Prizes in the Excellence in Interdisciplinary Scientific Research category ⭐ ✅ August: Major milestone — all 15 of our imaging sites started actively seeing participants, and we had reached over 6,200 study participants with nearly 13,000 study visits conducted across all sites. ✅ September: Winning the Australian Museum Eureka Prizes for Excellence in Interdisciplinary Scientific Research was an absolute highlight! 🥇 We also strategized managing large data volumes at a workshop with Melanoma Institute Australia and were represented at the #SkinCancer2024 conference in Brisbane and #EADVCongress in Amsterdam, The Netherlands🚲. ✅ October: Our team came together at the #AMC2024 in Sydney to discuss the latest advances in melanoma research. ✅ November: The premiere of "Conquering Skin Cancer," featuring our ACEMID Investigators, was a proud moment. Additionally, our team brought skin cancer awareness to Parliament House again with skin checks for ministers as part of the Parliamentary Friends of Melanoma and Skin Cancer Awareness initiative, where Prof H. Peter Soyer received the Melanoma & Skin Cancer Advocacy Network (MSCAN) 2024 Spot On Dedication Award for transforming Australia’s skin cancer landscape! ✨ 2024 has been a year of growth, collaboration, and progress, and we’re excited to continue our success and ground-breaking work in 2025 and beyond!
