What are the best techniques for prioritizing a Product Backlog?
Benifits of prioritizing the backlog are clearly in the visibility of the roadmap for all stakeholders. Keeping the backlog in a sane state greatly enhances visibility. It makes clear when items are tackled and where they stand in relation to other items on the roadmap. Working on the roadmap is an important but also very delicate topic. Different stakeholders - business, technology, product - have different views of needs and getting everything under one hood is a difficult and sometimes impossible task. Clear communication, sometimes even negotiation, and working out a good decision basis is key for this task. I consider the prioritization a success if all stakeholders buy into the final backlog.

What are the best techniques for prioritizing a Product Backlog?
Prioritization is the most important task of keeping your business running. There are a ton of techniques out there, but at the end, it comes down to a continuos re-evaluation of your backlog. Customer expectations change often and especially in the software industry, what is considered good today may be old tomorrow. Keeping an old-fashioned priority list and just shuffling around will not make the deal. I like the idea of making clean-ship one a year and re-create my backlog from scratch. This helps getting rid of old items that are polluting your backlog and makes you start thinking about "how would I do this now if I don't have to think about legacy" again.

What are the best techniques for prioritizing a Product Backlog?
Scrum for me is an easy method of prioritizing tasks and deliveries. It breaks down the deliveries into stories that are understandable for all stakeholders in an enterprise, not only the technology teams. What makes it attractive for me is the visibility it gives in both the long term topics (backlog), short term topics (sprint) and the quality of the outcome (review, velocity). Daily stand-ups make sure that everyone in the team is aligned and nothing is left behind. Plus, using proper formulated stories is the most non-technical way of describing delivery expectations that I came across.
