As global leaders continue with #COP29 negotiations and dialogues in Baku, it’s clear that firm commitments must be made to not only support innovation and accelerate the clean #energytransition but develop a robust regulatory framework that ensures equitable and effective implementation. We must better communicate and collaborate across borders if we are to drive effective and long-lasting change. Find out more in this article I penned for 'Energy Day' at COP29 Azerbaijan.

What if all electricity was generated from carbon-free sources? ☀️ By aligning with 24/7 carbon-free energy principles, we can transform this vision into reality. But to get there, we need a standardized approach. It all starts with asking: What if?💡 Watch the video to choose your path and explore the routes to implementation👇🏽 https://lnkd.in/d5Ndwd_8

🥁📣 Last week, 25 community health centres (CHCs) and clinics were commissioned with 24/7 life-saving electricity in Sierra Leone. 🇸🇱 🏥 Deputy Minister of Health, Dr. Charles Senesie, commissioned the newly installed #solarsystems and batteries in 25 CHCs and clinics across the country as part of the second phase of the Sierra Leone Healthcare Electrification Project. 💡 Why this matters: 18 of the 25 facilities previously had no power source; others relied on unreliable grid access or polluting #dieselgenerators. With the new #cleanenergy systems, healthcare workers can provide uninterrupted #primarycare, easing pressure on hospitals in rural and underserved areas, and improving #healthoutcomes for mothers, babies, and the entire community. The health centres can now save on diesel costs and prevent emissions. 🌱 ⚡ The next phase of the project, targeting the sustainable electrification of 11 more hospitals including Connaught Hospital, Lakka, and Kenema Government Hospitals, was also unveiled. Upon project completion, 43 health facilities will benefit from a combined installed capacity of 4.3 MWp solar power, completely transforming healthcare delivery in Sierra Leone. 💪 🗣️ On the back of the event, we collaborated with the Ministry to organize a roundtable with key institutional and development partners to discuss various models for operations and maintenance of the solar systems to ensure long-term sustainability. Join us next year at Energizing Healthcare 2025 to be a part of many such exciting discussions! #HETA Power Africa, #HEPA World Health Organization: https://lnkd.in/dMMm4PeX 🤝 We are thankful to the Sierra Leone Ministry of Health, EM-ONE Energy Solutions, Tetra Tech and CEMMATS Group Ltd., and the generous support from the UK government, for driving this initiative forward. Together, we are #PoweringHealthcare and #PoweringLivesSL.
