The #EANM24 congress was all about growth and engagement! With about 150 participants signing up to #GetInvolved, our community is clearly expanding. 🎉 We would also thank all the current and future EANM volunteers who joined us at the 'Meet the Volunteers (MTV)' event! This meet-and-greet with current Committee and Council members sparked discussions, collaboration, and insights into the many ways to engage with the EANM. It showed that whether you are a seasoned expert or just starting your career, there is a place for everyone in our association to collaborate and shape the future of #NuclearMedicine. Missed out? Stay tuned for more opportunities to get involved next year! 🔗 Express your interest in becoming an EANM volunteer: https://lnkd.in/dA3VgnP6 📸 Access our photo album: https://lnkd.in/dybBkQht © Faistauer Photography
European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM)
Gemeinnützige Organisationen
The European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) is the largest organisation dedicated to nuclear medicine in Europe.
Info
The EANM is the largest non-profit medical organisation dedicated to nuclear medicine in Europe. Since its establishment in 1985, the EANM has consistently aimed to provide an interactive platform for the sharing and discussion of cutting-edge developments in the field, fostering the exchange of knowledge on disease diagnosis and treatment. Nuclear medicine is a multi-professional, independent, medical discipline based on the application of probes labelled with radionuclides (radiopharmaceuticals) to both diagnose and treat various diseases, such as cancer. Its scope encompasses molecular imaging, image-guided procedures, and targeted radionuclide therapy. Nuclear medicine procedures target specific physio-pathological processes or features underlying a disease directly at the molecular level. Employing sophisticated hybrid technology and a multimodal approach, nuclear medicine ensures a comprehensive diagnostic map, fostering precision medicine to diagnose, prognosticate, administer targeted therapy, guide treatment, and monitor its effects on patients. As a leading organisation in the field, the EANM brings together professionals from different backgrounds, including nuclear medicine physicians, medical physicists, radiochemists, pharmacists, technologists and other experts working in nuclear medicine or related fields. The EANM also works closely with 40 European nuclear medicine national societies, 20 non-European affiliated societies, EU institutions, international bodies and other medical societies to bring nuclear medicine to the forefront. Globally recognised for its Annual Congress, which attracts over 8,700 attendees each year, the EANM is also the driving force behind the European School of Multimodality Imaging & Therapy (ESMIT). ESMIT offers a broad spectrum of educational programmes designed to enhance expertise in the field (for more information, visit their dedicated LinkedIn page).

This week, the #EANM participated in the Heads of Medicines Agencies (HMA) and European Medicines Agency (EMA) Multi-Stakeholder Workshop on Artificial Intelligence (#AI). The workshop focused on ‘enabling the safe and responsible use of AI’ in healthcare, bringing together expert perspectives to explore how AI can drive transformative advancements across the medicine lifecycle. Margarita Kirienko —the incoming Chair of the EANM’s new Artificial Intelligence Committee (launching in 2025)— delivered a presentation on the application of AI in #NuclearMedicine. Her talk covered aspects such as drug discovery, image quality, lesion detection, segmentation, diagnosis, therapy optimisation, and prognostication. She highlighted how AI integration can enhance diagnostic and therapeutic outcomes. Stay tuned— more updates on the future EANM AI Committee will be shared soon!

Last week, the #EANM had the pleasure to participate in the second International Workshop on Medical Radioisotopes Supply at the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency in Paris 🇫🇷. Co-organised with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre, this 2024 edition in Paris introduced a focus on the market potential of Lutetium-177 (Lu-177), Actinium (Ac-225) and other innovative medical radioisotopes. Discussions addressed strengthening the medical radioisotope supply chain’s resilience by monitoring supply and demand as well as assessing the critical infrastructure needs across medical systems. The #EANM was represented by EANM President-Elect Paola Anna Erba, who engaged in discussions on demand scenarios and supply projects, emphasising key enabling conditions, including regulatory and policy barriers. Thanks to all partners for the valuable insights and discussions aimed at delivering these innovations faster to patients!
