Info
CBmed, an Austrian funded competence center, links excellent research infrastructure, scientific expertise, medical knowledge, national and international industry partners for systematic medical biomarker research. Based in Graz (Austria), CBmed brings together scientific experts with leading pharmaceutical, diagnostic, medical-technology and IT industry partners. In addition, CBmed has a strong network in the area of Biobanking including the largest Biobank in Europe, Biobank Graz, and the European Biobanking network BBMRI-ERIC. CBmed research projects will identify new biomarkers, validate potential biomarkers and conduct translational biomarker research for products to be used in clinical practice. CBmed will develop easily applicable, targeted, minimally invasive biomarkers for better diagnosis, better therapy monitoring and a more personalized treatment of patients. The vision of the company is to become the world’s most recognised centre for biomarker research in personalised medicine by 2030. This will be achieved by integrating cutting-edge technologies with international and interdisciplinary expertise in the fields of cancer and cardio-metabolic health. Together with our scientific and industry partners, we will develop solutions and products for patient care and cure. The main topics are "Identifying new biomarkers", "validating potential biomarkers" and "conducting translational biomarker research". The company is based on 3 areas: Area 1 "Data & technologies", Area 2 "Cancer" and Area 3 "Cardio metabolic health". All three areas are closely linked not only by the technologies used in area 2 and area 3 but are also operationally highly complementary since they share similar pathophysiological mechanisms that will be efficiently approached by a common panel of methods. Each area draws heavily on the expertise and knowledge within CBmed as a whole.
