Apps better than the book

Even considering the increased price d/t the yearly subscription, this app is better than having the book because I always have it in my pocket at work and I don’t have to flip through pages. The comprehensive index search component has saved me so much time! I also enjoy the tools available including drug calculations, tables and lab values. This app is worth the subscription fee for nurse or for anyone needing to look up medications frequently.

It used to be my favorite app...

This app is a great, easy and reliable tool to find out about medications. The bad thing about it is that even if you hadn't renew your anual subscription, it still would let you use it, and now you can no longer do that. I would snooze the reminder of the renewal and use it to look up a medication and eventually pay again for the subscription anyways. I was at work and since it does not allow you to do that anymore, I will not renew my subscription since I couldn't rely on it when I needed it. My hospital offers at least two drug books linked to the charting system, I used them and found what I needed. There is also information available online for free. You should either lower the anual subscription or allow people to use it even if they haven't renewed the subscription. With that being said, they just lost a loyal customer that had renewed subscription and used this app for 5 years until now.

Developer Response ,

Hi Mony,

We understand your point of view and we greatly appreciate users like yourself that renewed on the honor system. The fact is that with every update to iOS there is the potential for issues to appear in an app that need to be addressed and a new build released. Apps require ongoing maintenance from a development team even when there is not an update to features or data. Additionally it is important that our users are making their decisions with the most recent drug information simply as a matter of safety.

Unfortunately, there was far to many users willing to rely on outdated information and not maintain their subscription and current drug information. For these reasons it was necessary for us to convert to a mandatory subscription model. We're sorry to see you go, especially after being with us for 5 years, but are glad to hear you have other resources available to you to keep you informed on the information you need.

It’s very good BUT...

I’ve had this app for several years and I keep renewing subscription out of habit and fear of not finding something better.
The reason I am not fully satisfied: I look for new medications and it cannot find them! It’s frustrating! It’s extremely important to have the info on newer medications but it seems they’re not updating this app’s database as frequently as they should! The app shows me it’s updated, there’s nothing to add, but then, it does not show me a lot of meds! I also don’t like the fact that it’s tough to find combination medications.
I hope they will fix it! If not, I’ll most likely start using a different app in the near future!
