Balatro 12+

I’ve been playing this game for months on PC only to see that it had also recently released on the IOS App Store. I was a bit skeptical of how nice it would feel to play on phone versus with mouse and keyboard, but I have to say, it’s almost MORE comfortable to play on phone, and I don’t seem to be making any mistakes or misclicks!

If you haven’t played Balatro before, it’s kind of like combining poker, solitaire, and whatever you happen to have in your wallet. There are all kinds of interesting Joker cards in the game which are the main element that makes the gameplay so interesting in the first place. Not only are you combining cards to find combinations like Straights and Flushes, but you are also trying to acquire Joker cards that give you abilities to increase your score. The ante increases each round, and once you can’t reach it with your score, you lose and must restart from the beginning. Takes about an hour to beat a single run if you take your sweet time, but to unlock everything you need to “beat” the game hundreds of times, so the value is incredible for what it is, really.

This game is 110% worth the price even at $10. It’s the full game, not just some App Store lite version like how we used to have to play Minecraft. It feels as though the game was originally made with the phone in mind and it just works really well. I can see myself playing the IOS version anywhere from by bed to the bus. Super fun!

I don’t normally write reviews and I’m not usually one to be into too many mobile games or even for that matter card games but this, there’s something about it that has an addictive and rewarding effect. I think the mix of elements of tarot and it’s design seem very fun and mysterious it’s not something that you’re too unfamiliar with, but just enough mystery to keep you wanting more. From the art, the classic pixel style art in remembrance of old Solitaire on Windows XP or Windows 98 it gives almost a nostalgic vibe as well as the music, hands-down probably the most entertaining card game that isn’t ordinary or some fake casino style solitaire style mobile game that pushes ads in your face. The pace of which the game and rounds run at as well is just perfect. Get those combos and get that reward system rewarded, you know that funny little center in your brain where you just want a little more? it hits all the right spots and it keeps you going, it’s amazing. Hands-down, 10 out of 10. Five stars, 100%.
