Carsten Pieper This aftergow/aftermath of the predecessor Extinction Level still is a dire affair albeit musically fascinating when these gifted musicians unleash their "spontaneuous compositions" on the world.
Album closer Crystal Cabin is a silver lining on the sonic horizon but couldn't be selected as favorite so I went for the opener with the optimistic title ;-) Favorite track: Shards of Death.
Frank Hadlich

Frank Hadlich indeed, another attack on your musical brain, extremely rewarding. Strong dark crunchy fuzzy stuff.
gpagano

gpagano one radiation filled fallout after the next, searing the inner ear. afterglow alludes to an orgasmic interlude in a flurry of caustic angular shards and leaves you begging for more. one of Anchor and Burden's most adventurous and sadistic tales.

Dustin Wall Really enjoying this. It's pouring rain here in Missouri. Shards of Death evokes an otherworldly giant made out of flora and water, hovering over the landscape. Asaf's contributions are really in focus here. Another really powerful set - Keep exploring, gents! We're enjoying the ride! Favorite track: Shards of Death.

about

Afterglow is the aftermath of the devastating "Extinction Level" album. For those who have gotten lost in the barren wastelands left behind by Extinction Level, here's your fix. We heard you and we feed you with brand-new apparitions born in the deep trenches of our souls.

This album is free for those who bought the Extinction Level album on CD or vinyl before August 2024. Check your inbox for download codes.

----------

Anchor and Burden is an uncompromising progressive avantgarde doom-jazz post-metal band based in Berlin, Germany, which has their own style of collective instant composition that defies the norms of creation. They create monolithic doom behemoths only to tear them into shreds with boundless energy in the next moment.

The two 8-string touch guitaristsMarkus Reuter and Alexander Dowerk conjure a wide array of moods with their unique instruments: From ethereal whispers out of sci-fi realms ot cerebral virtuosity that fractures the very psyche unto crushing metal brutality that leaves the listener gasping for their breath.

Bernhard Wöstheinrich weaves a web of synths and self-modulating percussive machinery, an arcane undercurrent beneath the towering monoliths of guitar, as fi sentient space stations traverse the void.
Drummer Asaf Sirkis, the virtuoso master of rhythm, wields his jazz and Indian polyrhythms not merely to forge a pulsating heartbeat, but also to break up and shift the quartet's music into unexpected places with his complex hyper jazz rhythms.
