Ransom Note Records are delighted to announce Blueprints Revisited, six remixes of the breakthrough debut mini-album from Ammonite, a.k.a. songwriter-producer Amy Spencer. Using just the voice and technology to create Blueprints, the outcome contains fragments of self-reflective lyrics, drones of humming vowels and broken, repetitive words; all meeting electronic processing to flow like a glorious, glitchy, blue river. Rapturously received, previous single ARP was used in Christian Dior’s Haute Couture runway at Paris fashion week in June.

We have invited an array of the best producers the underground has to offer to perform remix duties, including the inimitable talents of David Holmes, Salamanda, Midori Hirano, Franz Kirmann, Dot Never and Lapalace. These are artists Ammonite has admired from afar, along with artists that she has collaborated with; Dot Never co-produced Blueprints with Ammonite; she remixed David Holmes’ track Emotionally Clear and has recently been working on new music with R$N’s very own Lapalace. The results of which we await with baited breath.

Lead single, When You Don’t (Salamanda Remix), drops at the end of August and is the perfect ambassador for the record. The up and coming Seoul based duo have taken elements from the heavenly, delicate original track and reworked them into a retro, synth heavy, slow-mo workout. The sparse, driving drum break reveals Amy’s angelic vocal layers and Salamanda have added their own distinctive flare, creating a spectacularly bold mix.

Uber producer and titan of the scene, David Holmes, supplies the EP focus track, taking You Don’t Know Me and immediately turning it on its head. The glitched out, mellow vibe of the LP version has had an adrenaline shot directly to the heart, making it spasm and contort to a new rhythm. Pummelling drums, guitar and soaring synth lines are adjoined to Amy’s exquisite vocal performance, fabricating a totally new behemoth for dance floors.

Elsewhere, Erased Tapes artist Midori Hirano explores a piano-lead, Trip-Hop version of Too Close and London based composer and Days Of Being Wild head honcho Franz Kirmann moulds Forgive Me Forget into a woozy, saturated wall of noise that would be at home at any MBV concert. Rounding off, Dot Never turns What If I Knew Me into a frantic, distorted thumper, twisting it into a sublime Broken Beat monster and Lapalace slowly takes us down the gears, with a Herculean, expansive Ambient remix of ARP to soothe the battered senses.

The Blueprints Revisited artwork, by Amy’s visual collaborator, Yasmin Vardi, explores the concept of a remix, by sampling the original Blueprints artwork, reworking its elements and recolouring them in blueprint, cyan tones.
