*Splicer - Fiber* is responsible for safely and timely splicing multiple projects on a timeline.
It is important for Splicers to maintain all fiber optic facilities up to customer standards and take initiative in troubleshooting issues in the field.
Upon completing a splice job, Splicers are responsible for reporting field notes, test results, and billing.
*Roles and Responsibilities:*
* Competent in splicing of Hi-Cap circuits and T1’s
* Install and maintain pressurized closures; both Waffle and Preform
* Knowledge & proficiency in paper/pulp cable splicing and pair identification
* Complete accurate paperwork for material and customer billing tracking purposes
* Operate all vehicles, equipment and tools while adhering to company safety standards
* Complete daily inspections and reporting of maintenance issues on vehicles, trailers and equipment
* Works efficiently to achieve a high level of daily productivity in a fast-paced environment
* Understand and follow specific oral and written instructions
* Ability to work well independently and as a part of a team
* Willingness and ability to learn additional skills
*Success Factors:*
* Ability to read prints and familiar with RUS units and redlines
* Ability to work in underground (confined spaces), buried and aerial environments, sitting down or standing up in awkward positions for long periods of time
* Time management skills
* Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
* Ability to travel within the state as required by business needs - approximately 20% of the time
* Must be able to successfully complete a driving record check, criminal background check and drug screen
* ES07J license if preferred and would need to be obtained within the first 120 days
*Experience and Education:*
* 3 years of experience splicing copper distribution cables (50 pair and larger)
*Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:*
* Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Residence Driver’s License is required within two weeks of employment.
* Candidates must pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background checks and pass a pre-employment drug screen.
