Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic JOB SUMMARY: Job consists of mechanical installation, upkeep, repair, and removal of gypsum board production line equipment and gypsum calcining and grinding mill equipment.
Types of equipment include, but are not limited to, belt conveyors, roller conveyors, screw conveyors, grinding mills, calcining mills, gypsum board mixer, gypsum board knife, high output natural gas burner systems, hydraulic lifts, pneumatic lifts, and pollution control dust collector units.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Mechanical installation, upkeep, repair, and removal of gypsum board production line equipment and gypsum calcining and grinding mill equipment.
- Diagnoses and determines cause of problems with previously stated equipment, including mechanical and electrical failures.
MACHINES, TOOLS, and EQUIPMENT: Arc welder, acetylene torch, grinders, drills, saws, and assorted hand tools, including wrenches screw drivers, and hammers.
WORK EXPERIENCE and EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED required.
Communication skills, including the ability to communicate in English, as necessary to perform essential job functions and to maintain a safe working environment.
At least 5 year experience working as mechanic in similar type job.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS/HAZARDS: (report on working environment, including indoor/outdoor; exposure to heat, cold, humidity; length and intensity of exposure, lighting, protective apparel required, including ear and vision protection, and fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, and ventilation.
) Protective apparel provided by the Company to include: Employer furnishes all employees, hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, ear plugs or muffs, gloves, steel toe shoes, respiratory protection, as required.
Inside: Work environment is primarily indoors in gypsum wallboard manufacturing plant with adequate lighting.
Exposure to dust and noise levels are monitored by OSHA.
Dust collectors are installed in various locations in the plant.
Temperatures can vary from 20oF to 110oF from summer to winter.
Indoor environment is not air conditioned nor heated, but is ventilated.
Outside 10% of work time spent outside, direct sunlight, heat exposure to summer and winter conditions Rain and snow apparel provided.
