We seek a detail-oriented, thorough, number driven Payroll Manager to join our growing team.
The Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing and directing payroll procedures, ensuring compliance with laws and tax obligations, supervising the payroll team, and maintaining accurate payroll records.
Roles and Responsibilities: Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
Directing and Managing Payroll Procedures: Payroll managers oversee the entire payroll process, ensuring it runs smoothly and efficiently.
Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
Coordinating payroll activities with human resources and accounting departments.
Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Payroll managers stay up to date with applicable laws and tax obligations, ensuring accurate and compliant payroll processing.
Success Factors: Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Proficient with payroll software.
English usage sufficient to keep records, place orders, and prepare simple narrative reports.
Willingness and ability to learn additional skills.
Experience and Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field required.
Three to five years (3-5) of related experience required.
Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications: Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Residence Driver’s License is required within two weeks of employment.
Candidates must pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background checks and pass a pre-employment drug screen.
