Job Summary: The Senior Accountant will assist in the day-to-day accounting responsibilities.
The Senior Accountant will be a key member of the accounting team that will be responsible for accurate and timely financial reporting and general accounting activities.
Yearout Mechanical is seeking a detail-oriented individual who possesses the ability to multi-task to provide support regarding bank reconciliations, deposits, completing payments, and controlling expenses by receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices.
Job Responsibilities: • Reporting – Executing smooth, accurate and timely reporting to ensure financial statements “fairly represent” business performance.
Ensure proper compliance with US GAAP, Tax & Labor laws, as well as company policy.
• Revenue recognition – Participates in the project accounting process from start to finish.
(a) Work closely with the Division’s project managers to ensure continuous update of economic forecasts across projects in portfolio.
(b) Ensure adequate cost accumulation on projects to enable proper Percentage of Completion revenue recognition.
(c) Prepare and analyze month-end project performance • Assist in providing analytical, forecasting, reporting, and project support to senior management.
• Produce monthly reports, which include key metrics, financial results, and variance reporting.
• Maintains Sage 300 daily, weekly, and monthly application postings and close as required.
• Make suggestions to improve accounting processes.
• Maintains all state and federal requirements as they relate to accounts payable functions.
• Any special projects provided by the VP Finance or Upper Management as necessary.
• Assist in the implementation of new accounting policies/accounting standards, in addition to monitoring the adherence to existing accounting policies • Complete monthly and year-end financial activities, including journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, accruals, reserve analysis and company transactions and reconciliations.
In particular WIP schedules for revenue recognition.
• Provide support for year-end financial audits including preparation of audit schedules and addressing auditor inquiries.
• Ability to Support AP & AR, Billing, PO Process and other items as needed.
• Work with all other departments obtaining and providing financial data • Prepare account analysis schedules including rollforward, variance, and trend analysis to identify discrepancies to resolve and confirm accuracy of account balances for financial close process.
• Compare results to forecast, budget or prior periods, investigate any significant or unusual variances and determine the appropriate adjustments • Create and utilize business relationships to further understand and analyze financial results.
• Assist in reporting to various business leaders as needed, including schedules and commentary with respect to operating results and variances, preparation of operational information and ad hoc reporting as required.
• Participate or lead various projects and tasks as required based on business needs, including developing modeling tools and procedures for examining and understanding financial data and provide credible recommendations relative to the data.
• Examining business records and interviewing auditees to identify deficiencies in key controls and the root causes for underperformances QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES • Degrees – Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
Certified Public Accountant preferred.
• Experience – At least 4 years of progressive accounting & finance experience.
Commercial Construction industry experience preferred, CCIFP certification preferred.
• Systems – Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
Experience with Sage 300 preferred.
OneStream a plus.
• Organized – Strong sense of urgency with ability to see the forest through the trees, set priorities, ask questions and build action plans to drive timely execution.
