The Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) was established by the Dubai Government to enhance the emirate's position as a global hub for commodity trade. Masdar (Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company), a leading clean energy company from the UAE, has raised $1 billion through its second issuance of green bonds under its Green Finance Framework. This announcement comes a year after their initial successful issuance of $750 million on the International Securities Market of the London Stock Exchange. The latest issuance includes two tranches of $500 million each, with maturities of five and ten years and interest rates of 4.875% and 5.25% respectively. There was strong demand from regional and international investors, with the order book reaching $4.6 billion, an oversubscription of 4.6 times. The allocation was split with 70% going to international investors and 30% to investors from the MENA region. The largest alternative asset manager in the Middle East is set to lose one of its most senior executives after 30 years, as part of a sweeping reshuffle that will involve Chairman Mohammed Alardhi taking on more of the CEO responsibilities. Hazem Ben-Gacem is stepping down as co-chief executive officer and leaving Bahrain-based Investcorp Holdings, which manages about $52 billion in assets. Rishi Kapoor, who was also co-CEO, will take on a new role as vice chairman and chief investment officer, according to a statement on Monday. Harvard-educated Ben-Gacem joined Investcorp in 1994 and was appointed co-CEO in 2018. He helped drive the firm’s push into Asia as part of a plan to double its assets under management over the next few years. He’s set to leave firm effective Nov. 1. The executive also oversaw the firm’s investing and capital raising with sovereign and institutional investors in the Middle East. The ValuStrat Price Index for September 2024 improved by 2.1 per cent monthly, reaching 190.1 points, slightly slower than August’s growth of 2.2 per cent. Annually, the valuation-based index was up by 28.9 per cent. Villas reached 243.2 points, while apartments recorded 155.4 points, both benchmarked against a base of 100 points set in January 2021. The ValuStrat Price Index or the VPI, is a valuation-based price index constructed to represent periodic change in capital values and rental values experienced by typical residential and commercial properties. The VPI for Dubai’s residential capital values is updated on a monthly basis.
