While our growth remains strong, it’s important to remember that this has occurred because of four necessary ingredients. 1️⃣ The ability to maintain a strong track record of producing returns for investors. 2️⃣ Open and transparent communication. 3️⃣ A solid pipeline of opportunities - investors don’t approve fresh lines of capital unless they are confident of your ability to appropriately deploy. 4️⃣ Carefully managing and balancing your capital commitments - having sufficient dry powder to deploy as the momentum is building, but not too much leading to investors being over allocated to your firm. This latest upsize to QDCI in my view reflects our performance across all four factors above and the deployment pipeline and market opportunity we have so carefully navigated. To the Qualitas team, thank you for your ongoing commitment. You are truly inspirational and best in class and I am extremely proud of our achievements.

Dubai/Abu Dhabi is growing as a global financial hub. Despite being significantly smaller than New York, London, Hong Kong and Singapore, it is likely the most promising in terms of growth in coming years. Though local public markets in my view are still in early stage of development (though have high potential as well) in terms of liquidity and exposure to international investors, infrastructure for investing from UAE globally is available here and now, including legislation/regulatory environment, low taxes, high pools of capital, time zoning and quality of living.

Goldman Sachs Group is set to become the first Wall Street bank to establish its regional headquarters in Saudi Arabia as it has reportedly obtained a license from the Ministry of Investment, reported Bloomberg. So, what does this mean for Saudi Arabia? 1. Economic diversification and growth: This move aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which aims to diversify the economy away from oil dependence. The Kingdom enhances its financial sector and overall economic landscape by attracting major international firms. 2. Increased foreign investment: The establishment of a regional headquarters by a prominent Wall Street bank like Goldman Sachs signals a strong vote of confidence in Saudi Arabia’s business environment. We have published the 22nd Investment Management Survey (IMS). Thanks to those of you who have participated in the interview process as well as our member firms providing incredibly valuable data. Congratulations to my colleagues Sarah Shehabi, Hassan Ali and Richard Hale who worked so hard to produce this report and to everyone at the IA who contributed their time and insights. Key findings show that in 2023: 📈 Total UK Assets Under Management (AUM) were £9.1 trillion, with almost three-quarters (73%) of AUM managed on behalf of institutional clients. Retail investors account for 26% of AUM up from 20% in 2020. 🌍 IA members manage £4.5trn on behalf of overseas clients - 49% of AUM. The largest share of assets is managed for European clients (£2.5trn) but the highest growth is in assets managed for Middle Eastern clients (12%) 📊 UK pension fund assets managed by IA members remained at £2.2trn in 2023, unchanged from 2022. 💡 The UK investment management industry supports approximately 124,800 jobs with 45,800 people directly employed by investment management firms, a 1% decrease from 2022 (and the first annual fall since 2008). We have also highlighted three key themes shaping the industry in the UK: maintaining the UK’s competitiveness in a new economic cycle, the evolution of sustainable investment in a more complex operating environment and supporting innovation and harnessing the benefits of AI and tokenisation.
