On Thursday we were thrilled to host the Arudia Leadership & Management Academy’s second of seven Core Training sessions: Lead, Manage, and Collaborate with Style, Part 2. This session is based on Dr. Kirton’s work on problem-solving and his assessment, the Kirton Adaption-Innovation Inventory (the “KAI” - KAI Foundation), which measures problem-solving style on a roughly 100-point scale of more to less structured. One participant indicated that since learning about the KAI framework, he finds himself noticing who is more structure or less structured then himself. Another participant (a government affairs executive) noted that the KAI framework helped her understand the differences between her own much more structured approach to solving problems and her colleague's less structured approach. Noting that her own focus is often on “what the rules say,” while her colleague emphasizes thinking outside of the box and often asks, "What else could we do to get to where we, as an organization, want to go?” This participant also noted that she will ‘break out’ of her more structured comfort zone and will share ‘crazy’ ideas that her colleague, in particular, loves to hear. Overall, participants appreciated learning about different problem-solving styles and work styles as a way of improving person efficacy and resilience, and managing and leading their team. #leadership #management

Today, I had the pleasure of meeting an extraordinary leader Pierre Vinour at the #GET_2024 conference. Anyone can start a company, and many can become a CEO, but not everyone can truly be a leader in the fullest sense of the word. This individual embodied true humanity. From the logo he chose for his company—people standing side by side—it’s clear how deeply he values the human element in business. He believes that providing a supportive and respectful work environment brings out the best in people, far more than just focusing on pressure and profit. Of course, profits are essential, but he knows that nurturing his team’s well-being leads to sustainable, greater success. One thing that especially touched me was his profile picture, which includes a red overlay on one side. When I asked him about it, I discovered it’s his way of showing support for women fighting cancer, a cause he stands behind strongly. He also introduced me to awareness campaigns like Pink October and Movember—initiatives I hadn’t known about before. Thank you to this inspiring leader for sharing so much more than just business insights.
