This week's picture is of #FlowManagementPlatform which Yagna Entrepreneur Success Services Private Limited and Vedarth Solutions presented in last week's #frappeverse conference The objective of the platform is to help companies secure meaningful bottom-line results (Profits, ROI) from their investment in ERPNext. Enterprise (wide) - All decisions / improvements need to be made with a enterprise-wide view - i.e. global optima and not local optima 2. Resource - All decisions / commitments need to be made considering resource constraint - orders, capacity or cash. 3. Planning - Planning is about making few decisions before the actual execution. Good enough planning with fast feedback from execution is the way, not detailed planning Align your ERP to support flow. This is a simple way to move from #chaostosuccess and #maximizereturnoninvestment *Speed is a lead indicator for Profits, ROI.

Sonata Software recently invited me to contribute at their "Building a #Resilient Workforce: Strategies for Success" event. This was a panel discussion anchored by the effervescent and impactful Shubhra Singh and my co-panelists were their CDO Suresh HP and their Head of Corporate Development Sharmila Sherikar, both exceptionally well-read and articulate leaders. With Co-travellers so named, challenge number one was not even the topic, it was getting my tongue to navigate the "S" and "Sh" sound when my geographical ethnicity does not allow for it :-) On to the topic at hand. Shubhra moderated the session extremely well with her forceful and well-directed questions making us better panelists in the process. The first question that defined the boundaries of our conversation was "Why do we need a resilient workforce?" To me, resilience is fundamentally our ability to #navigate through and bounce back from adversity. Organizations that don't anticipate adversity can perhaps do without a resilient workforce. In a world in the middle of a #climatecrisis, chasing some 17 sustainable development goals, facing an existential #AI opportunity, and growing to 10 billion people, addressing adversity is how we will progress into a very challenging future. The next question allowed us to define resilience for the 300 strong audience. How does collaborative and cross-functional teamwork contribute to resilience of individual employees. How do leaders contribute to a culture of resilience? Resilience has two core ingredients: #Strength and #Elasticity. Strength comes from the individual and the community. The strength of the community is what prevents a culture from turning toxic. Hence, I would say cross functional / collaborative teamwork is the absolute essence of resilience. Elasticity is the ability to stretch which comes from both the individual and the organisation as well as from a strong sense of purpose they carry. The difference between #toxicworkplaces and purpose driven workplaces is that the latter stretch people to their elastic limits but no more. Leaders fashion #purpose on the fertile soil of #culture. I believe that there are two extremes of #culture that leaders navigate - a sharp elbowed culture and a warm chested culture. They also navigate two extremes of purpose - the ambiguous and the ambitious. The intersection of warm chested as well as ambitious culture is where breakthrough #innovation thrives. Similarly, warm chested and ambiguous tends to give us a Don Quixotic organisation...quite well meaning but essentially useless. [Covering the entire discussion is best left for another day.] However, this forced me to dig deep and seriously introspect as a Founder to find answers and I am grateful to team Sonata for listening-in and to Rashmi Prabha, Balaji Kumar and Samir Dhir for having me over.

One stock which should be on your radar is Narayana Hrudayalaya(NH). It belongs to health care sector. Company with great fundamentals, clean accounting and prudent capital allocation track record. Noted cardiologist Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty is the founder promoter of NH. Under his visionary leadership and proven track record NH has established as one of the go to hospitals for cardiology related ailments, predominantly. They have expanded their footprints outside Bangalore with hospital chains in places like Kolkata, Cayman Islands etc. NH is growing at a healthy rate. The cashflow they generate from their core business they prudently use it for expansion and building capacities. NH is one of the few hospitals to implement robotic assisted surgeries. Their asset lite model approach saves them from heavy Capex and gives better return on Assets. Instead of owning they lease the properties. They opened their facility in Cayman Island targeting the US patients. The current situation is such that they are struggling with capacity to service the local residents. They are increasing the No. Of beds at all their locations They recently launched health insurance which is another growth lever. Why this stock looks good to me for longer-term? 1) India is transitioning from emerging economy to an advanced market. Direct result of this is rising disposable income. When this happens people do not hesitate to spend on consumption and health care. We have seen this during covid when people didn't mind spending on premium health care. NH will be a direct beneficiary of consumption boom ahead of us. 2) India has a young working age population. People are spending more on leisure, eating out more. This trend is going to continue. Sedentary lifestyle results in lifestyle diseases like cardiovascular etc. NH will have a prominent role to play in treating future patients. 3) With presence outside India they have taken care of concentration risk 4) Their foray into health insurance is another growth lever. 5) NH's brand recall is very good This is one of their strongest moats. Patients stickiness is very high considering their impeccable track record. Today health insurance is no more a luxury instead a quintessential need. With medical, hospitalization costs going through the roof, people have realized the need for having a good health insurance than ever before. With 32 times Price to earnings multiple, long terminal value of cashflows and huge runway for growth the stock definitely looks undervalued to me at the moment. NH can be a portfolio stock and if held for longer term has immense potential to give excellent returns from hereon.

Growing Professional Relationships takes consideration, patience and skill. This article articulates the phases / stages and also offers some suggestions on how to move through the various stages. Why would we want to build out these professional relationships ? The key is here "we’re at our worst when we are exclusionary and zero-sum. The inverse is also true: we are at our best when we are collaborating well with others." Well worth a read to consider where you are with professional relationships and how to develop them further.

Only 20 M in India pay Income Tax , esp Salaried class . There is a need to re look at these rates and reduce them . Corporate taxes are less than individual income tax.

Proposed Budget 2024’s Impact on IT Industry Continuing my series of posts related to impact of the proposed budget 2024-25, let’s talk about the impact on IT sector. The proposed 2024 budget delivers a harsh blow to the IT sector, leaving it high and dry without the incentives it desperately needs. Here are a few highlights of the budget changes that could further harm the IT industry: 1. Allocation: PKR 79 billion is allocated to the IT sector, but this funding is earmarked for government projects and IT parks. The government's claim that IT exports will reach $3.5 billion in current fiscal year seems far-fetched without substantial support for private IT enterprises. 2. Tax Burden: The budget brings the "gift" of higher income taxes on the salaried class, affecting IT professionals and companies alike. This additional financial strain could hamper the industry's growth and talent retention. 3. Ignored Recommendations and Increased Costs: Despite P@SHA (Pakistan Software Houses Association) lobbying for beneficial changes, their proposals were disregarded. No payroll incentives were offered for the IT industry. To add insult to injury, the General Sales Tax on IT hardware has been doubled from 5% to 10%. These measures will likely erode trust within the industry, accelerating the brain drain as professionals and businesses seek more supportive environments abroad.
