This is a noteworthy move for global private markets advisory firm Campbell Lutyens to establish an office in Dubai - the capital markets hub of the Middle East and most connected city to the #India market, and frankly to the world. The region, particularly Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, has a core base of increasingly sophisticated investors into global alternative asset strategies as more #familyoffices are being established and several relocating to the region. Then there is the growth of #wealthmanagers and perhaps local #endowments & #insurancecompanies. As one peer noted, the old days of flying in and out to cover the regional capital market base is "colonial". I often see foreign companies unaware of the generous incentives the UAE government offers businesses. One example is the federal NAFIS program, which encourages companies to engage and nurture Emirati talent. Interview on Al Arabiya News Channel Business with Lara Habib discussing US markets. I was at Russell Investments’ offices, and they graciously hosted me in a meeting room to do the interview, so I did not have my usual setup. The phone almost fell during the interview.. Many reasons behind the massive drop Nvidia had, dragging the whole market with it: - Volatility spiked when the Bank of Japan intervened by raising rates in July, which pushed part of the JPY/USD carry trade to unwind, and given it is this trade that has been financing most of the tech rally, namely Nvidia, this dragged the whole sector and the whole market with it. Since this event has left many market player jittery. Add to that the fact that many Nvidia’s insiders having liquidated large holdings of their Nvidia stock at the highs - September and October, respectively, are the 2nd and 1st most volatile months of the year when looking at statistics since 1984 (I made a post about that) - Continued weakness of economic numbers, while inflation continues to show stickiness, which is increasing the stagflation scenario - We expect volatility to continue until after the US elections at least Thank you Hanya Amr for having me again.
