Changing jobs can be challenging, but the UAE government leaders encourage embracing change and learning new things. Inspired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's quote on the importance of change, “ We affirm that change is part of the development journey... and development is part of an ambition that knows no bounds... Our future is brighter as we move forward and dream the best for our country,”. I decided to move from Human Resources (HR) to Corporate Communication. In HR, I focused on managing teams, improving workplace culture, handling employee relations, and increasing Emiratization in various sectors. Though fulfilling, I felt a growing desire to explore new fields. Many skills from HR, such as communication, relationship-building, and strategic thinking, proved transferable and important in corporate communication. This field offered a strategic role in shaping an organization's public image, managing internal communications, and engaging with stakeholders. The switch from HR to Corporate Communication was challenging but incredibly rewarding, helping me grow both professionally and personally. This journey underscored the importance of being open to new opportunities and continuous growth. If you are considering a career change, remember it may be challenging, but it also presents opportunities for growth and new experiences. Embrace the encouragement from UAE government leaders to change and learn new things. Be open-minded, eager to learn, and ready to adapt, and you might discover your true calling and unlock a world of new possibilities.

“According to a study by the International Labor Organization on ten low and middle-income countries in Asia and Africa, excluding people with disabilities from the world of work can cost countries up to 7% of their GDP.” 👆🏿👆🏿this here highlights the magnitude of work in Africa and other middle income countries - we are in the startup point to accesibility. Our priorities in this journey ought to include #earlychildhood education even before we think employment which is key in addressing #YouthUnemployment and inturn the untapped opportunities and benefits that would help us realize better #GDP outcomes . Our learning institutions are in dire need of support for #learnerswithdisability . If we do not address this we will keep revolving on the same spot for a while for in another few years those in #earlychildhood will be Youth and without education they will encounter #unemployment. Africa intervention must therefore be done decisively and fast especially with the current push for #globaleconomy growth focus. I am keen on this for sure

One of my favourite things about #ConnectHer2024 was having the opportunity to meet incredible #women with deep expertise in their fields, a burning #passion to contribute and unlimited, untapped #potential. Meet Tahreer Maswadi You know how some people just have that "X factor". Tahreer is one of those. I'm not here to espouse her credentials, her experience, her three Masters degrees. No, you can read all of that in her profile. What I'm here to talk about is what you read in her #resume, can't find on her #linkedInprofile. I had the pleasure of spending 90mins with her the morning after CH24. We spoke about life, drive, passion, purpose, working for a cause, creating change, and the horrors (she faces every day) being a career-break mother trying to return to work. We talked about motivation, helping others, being an Arab-American woman, a mother, a wife. And of course, we spoke about #hiring and #jobsearch The hiring and #interviewing strories she shared of her own experiences with prominent organisations (if I name-shamed, you would know every one of these companies!) confirmed what we all know; that there is still widespread #bias and #discrimination throughout all levels of the hiring ecosystem. But let me stop myself; this post isn't (another! - sorry!) rant. No, it's a post to share the utter brilliance of Tahreer, the positivity I felt when we finished our coffee and went about our days, the optimism I was left with when, despite her challenges, I saw the confidence with which she continued to push forward and the unshakeable commitment to contribute to the lives of others. If you're operating in the #education or #highereducation worlds, you need to speak with Tahreer. Emirates Driving has participed this week in MOVE: Mobility Re-imagined at ADNEC Group - Excell London. It is the world's #1 tech mobility event, bringing together people and companies redefining mobility. The show was divided to 11 topics of mobility with many other areas. I was personally intrested in MaaS, Innovation, First & last miles, CAVs and EVs. Happy also to touch base with my previous colleagues from TRL on the updates on their researches, findings and the latest happening with the future of Transport and Mobility. Intresting discussions with Prf Nick Reed ( Former TRL academy Director ) on the latest insights on CAV and its safety measures. Thank you for your continuous support in Mobility innovation and research. My gratitude to James Long for the site visit and update on Smart Mobility Living Lab: London; after 6 years I have witnessed intresting progress and great achievements. Subu K. as usual has amazing plans for TRL Software and IT Solutions. AI implementations in Mobility and Road projects, even in traffic optimisation system like SCOOT AI would broadly impact the sector from safety, efficiency and cost levels. Honered to meet with Helen K. Pan from Baidu, Paul Newman from Oxa and many others... ( *The trip in the car from Excell to hotel is 73 minutes by car 🚗 however 41 min by Rail - I paid fees for 8+ Euros not 60+ Euros as per Uber... It was lovely to be surrounded by such a group of great minds (Fanika :-) ) at the Informa L&D Summit Abu Dhabi. Many topics were though provoking like AI in HR, but the one that really stuck with me most was Shad Rogers about performance management and especially the ladders of inference. It served as a great reminder that, even with the technology we have at our disposal, we are still human with bias. And espcially for Shad..."Dude/bro...looooved your talk" :-) #leadership #coaching

Recent Networking & Talks I’ve attended. How's leader behaviour recently I found failed in accepting/managing comments and feedback. 1- Spreading unnecessary P&C info & feedback around. 2- Creating a group of people to against 3- No calm & positive action was taken to manage the situation, or emotions in the society.
