Dubai welcomed over 10 Million overnight visitors in the first 6 months of 2024 setting a new record 🇦🇪 But, why is EVERYBODY coming to Dubai? 🌍 Strategic Location Dubai is conveniently located an 8 hour or less plane journey to almost 80% of the world, making it one of the most traveled through airports ever. People heading to Australia, Singapore etc will transfer via Dubai. 🔒 Safest City Abu Dhabi was voted THE safest city in the world with Dubai with Dubai also in the Top 5. Not only this but the UAE was voted most livable in the MENA Region boasting an almost non-existent crime rate. ☀ Year Round Sunshine Minus the flash floods we witnessed earlier this year, Dubai offers pretty much guaranteed good weather all year round. Great for boosting the mood and enabling to live a more outdoor lifestyle at any time of year. 💸 Earning Potential The average earning potential is significatly higher than most major cities worldwide encouraging global businesses to relocate the headquarters and subsequently creating more job opportunities. (Google & Fairmont to name a couple). Not only this but the UAE offers incredible tax advantages that are not found anywhere else in the world. 🏥 Advanced Healthcare & Education Facilities Employers are required to provide all employees with private healthcare insurance to cover basic medical requirements such as GP appointments, in-patient, prescriptions etc at a variety of facilities. Likewise, British & American curriculums are readily available. (Please note - schools are not free. Please research average costs before committing to the move). 📃 Streamlined Visa Process With a variety of options when it comes to the Visa process, this can be done quickly & efficiently enabling people of all different backgrounds to live & work in Dubai. (Check your passport is eligible via the Ministry of Labour website). 📈 Robust Economy Dubai continues to lead the way when it comes to having a solid economy. Particularly interesting for my sector, and those considering becoming an agent, is the recent headlines around the property markets contribution to the overall GDP.

How far would you go to develop your team? Never underestimate the power of team development. During my time with dnata, our team managed training for over 22,000 employees at Dubai Airports. They worked very hard and round the clock! Once a month, we paused our regular training activities to focus solely on team growth, a tradition that continued for nine years without fail. The last working day of each month became something everyone eagerly anticipated. It was the one day when we all came together as a team. Our full day sessions were more than just meetings. How to prepare for your move to Dubai 🇦🇪 Before you book those flights, make sure you do the following: ✅ Choose an employer that follows UAE Labor Laws and arranges your Visa BEFORE your flight ✅ Ensure your passport has 6 full months validity ✅ Arrange travel insurance for the Interim period while your Visa is under process ✅ Book accommodation in close proximity to your workplace. Dubai is busy which can mean a lot of traffic at peak hours. Living nearby reduces the commute time significantly. ✅ Pack appropriate clothing. Dubai is a liberal and accommodating city but you MUST remain respectful. Long sleeves/trousers are required for visiting Government buildings. ✅ Join expat Facebook groups to build your network. ✅ Research the culture so you can immerse yourself in the beauty Dubai has to offer. ✅ SAVE. Dubai is not cheap and you will have deposits to pay for things like cars, accommodation etc when you arrive. ✅ Stock up on essentials such as sun cream as these can be more expensive. ✅ Request a Budget Planner from your employer to get familiar with day to day expenses and enable to manage your finances. ✅ Come prepared with the mentality that you HAVE to work hard. Nothing is handed to you on a plate and the talent in Dubai is top tier!

It's amazing to see so many new Recruiters using this platform to educate people about Dubai 🇦🇪 When I was making the move, there was very little information readily available! Now, all you need to do is log into LinkedIn & you have a world of information at your finger tips! Today, I wanted to go back to basics & cover the 3 most frequently asked questions that I receive regarding the move to Dubai! Visa Process 🇦🇪 In order to live & work legally in Dubai, you need to have a Residency visa in place. If you intend to work for a company here in Dubai, they will become your sponsor and will be responsible for arranging the Residency visa on your behalf. They must cover the full cost & make all relevant arrangements such as Medical appointments, biometric testing etc... They are also legally required, under the 2006 Dubai Health Authority Law, to provide you with healthcare insurance cover, at no cost to you, once your visa is complete. Accommodation 🏡 You will not be able to enter into a fixed term tenancy contract until your Emirates ID has been issued at the end of your visa process. Therefore, you will need to arrange temporary accommodation in the interim such as serviced apartments or AirBnB. At White&Co, we provide corporate discounts for suitable accommodation within close proximity to the office to help you settle into your new home! Driving in Dubai 🚘 Driving on the opposite side, massive 8 lane roads and drivers from all over the world, I can totally understand why people find driving here quite daunting. However, the UAE has strict rules around Driving Licence conversion. If the country is not on the conversion list, you are required to complete a road test here in Dubai to ensure you are in line with UAE regulations. For those coming from the UK, you can easily convert your licence without the need for any lessons or road test. You can drive legally on your UK licence while your visa is under process and then convert once you have your Emirates ID. Your valid UK licence is then returned to you along with your UAE licence so you are not swapping or giving up your licence.
