It’s a wrap! 🎬 Positive Technologies experts have completed a tour of the Arabian Gulf countries workshops on cybersecurity for the financial industry. In Bahrain, the UAE and Saudi Arabia, our experts spoke about the evolution of cyber threats in the region, weaknesses in the banking system, and vectors for hackers' attacks on the banking infrastructure and external components. Workshop participants included heads of IS departments of banks and financial institutions, managers, #cybersecurity analysts, and architects. 💡 According to our research on the criminal cyber services market in the Arabian Gulf, between early 2023 and mid-2024, 13% of the darkweb posts studied by experts were related to the financial industry. At the same time, on shadow forums, the first place among all requests for data purchase (40% of them) is occupied by requests for purchasing databases of financial institutions. Our experts helped workshop participants understand the most common methods and techniques of hackers, develop skills to protect banking systems and learn to minimize financial losses caused by cyberattacks. “Positive Technologies has accumulated vast experience in confronting cybercriminals, and recently, with the growing tensions in the world, our experts have had to deal with a shaft of increasingly sophisticated attacks on companies and organizations in Russia. Arcapita Group Holdings and Dgpays have formed a consortium to acquire a majority stake in NEOPAY, a leading UAE-based payment solutions provider originally established as a strategic division within Mashreq. Neopay has rapidly expanded its presence to become a key player in the UAE's digital payments sector. The acquisition, which values Neopay at approximately $385 million, will enable the company to accelerate its growth by leveraging Dgpays' advanced fintech solutions and Arcapita's investment expertise. Mashreq will retain a significant minority stake and the transaction is subject to regulatory approvals. Goldman Sachs International acted as financial advisor to Mashreq, while Clifford Chance and Freshfields acted as legal advisors to Mashreq and the consortium.
