In Doha, Qatar to do a presentation for Fast Company Middle East’s Innovation by Design Summit 2024. I am impressed with the skyline of Doha which I think aims to be Dubai’s rival with all those skyscrapers their arms reaching out to the sky. I am here to discuss Artificial Intelligence and its role in design, with emphasis on the question: Is there is such a thing as Artificial Creativity? Can these powerful robots be creative too? So far, my answer is NO. I write in a new analysis on MEED | Middle East Economic Digest that the UAE's ability to produce cheap energy, vast capital resources, national AI strategy and renewed drive to industrialise its economy, along with strong economic and political alliances, give it a firm lever to influence how the global AI industry develops.
