A key takeaway was the emphasis on the "harvest now, decrypt later" strategy, underscoring the urgency for organizations to adopt quantum-safe encryption methods to protect sensitive data against future quantum decryption capabilities. This approach is crucial as quantum computing advances could potentially compromise current encryption standards. The event also featured discussions on the UAE's proactive measures in cybersecurity. Dr. Mohammed Al-Kuwaiti, Chairman of the UAE Cybersecurity Council, announced plans to introduce three new cybersecurity policies by the end of 2024, focusing on cloud computing and data security, Internet of Things security, and cybersecurity operations centers. Additionally, executive regulations for the encryption law, essential for securing quantum-compatible data transmissions, are expected to be released by year-end. ​​ Engaging with such a diverse group of professionals at the summit was both enlightening and motivating. Mr. Blanken brings over 25 years of experience in the global telecommunications and technology industry, to his new role. He joins NSG from EXA Infrastructure, the leading dedicated digital infrastructure platform connecting Europe and North America, where he was their CEO. Before joining EXA, he served as a senior advisor to I Squared Capital, a global infrastructure investment firm. Prior to that Mr. Blanken was the Group Managing Director and Chief Commercial Officer at Telstra and a member of its Executive Committee. During his tenure at Telstra, he was also the CEO of Telstra Global which under his leadership transformed into the leading service provider in Asia Pacific. Mr. Blanken said: “It’s a true privilege to lead NSG. The space industry is rapidly transforming and is wide open for disruption, so the launch of NSG is very well-timed. Regulation: Central Bank of Kuwait - CYBERSECURITY FRAMEWORK FOR KUWAITI BANKING SECTOR 7.4 Mobile Banking Security Objective: To ensure confidentiality and integrity of transactions initiated by mobile banking, Regulated Entities shall implement mobile banking security controls. 7.4.1 Regulated Entities shall implement controls to restrict installation and usage of mobile applications on jail-broken devices. 7.4.2 Regulated Entities shall ensure that the mobile application encrypts the data stored if any, locally by the application on the customer devices. 7.4.3 Regulated Entities shall conduct security assessment to identify and remediate vulnerabilities associated with their mobile applications. 7.4.4 Regulated Entities shall ensure that the mobile application verifies the mobile number and device IMEI of the customer for first time use of applications. 7.4.5 Customers may be allowed to access mobile banking application from up to three validated devices.
