How One Smart Idea Transformed جمعية الشارقة الخيرية Sharjah Charity International Operations—AED 500K Monthly Donations! I still vividly remember the day His Highness Dr. Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi entrusted me with a significant responsibility—appointing me as a board member of جمعية الشارقة الخيرية Sharjah Charity International. Back then, operations relied on legacy systems, and the portal had its, let’s say, “character.” I knew there was room for change, but the challenge was monumental. Migrating from traditional systems was no small feat, given the complexity and effort required. To approach this transformation strategically, I decided to take it step by step. My primary focus was to address two critical aspects: 1️⃣ Bringing donations to the charity. 2️⃣ Providing aid to those in need through an efficient system. With this vision, we developed the concept of the Smart Link, a single-page solution designed to simplify and streamline the donation process. This simple yet innovative feature alone brought in monthly donations of 500,000 AED, creating a direct impact on our ability to serve more people. Alongside this, we introduced Musadat, a system focused on identifying and supporting those in need, ensuring that the funds collected were distributed efficiently. Our approach was straightforward: first, bring in the resources; then, ensure they are used effectively to make a difference. With a small but dedicated team, we started developing these systems, beginning with the Smart Link, which became a game-changer. Looking back, it’s incredible to see how these simple yet focused innovations laid the foundation for what Sharjah Charity International has become today. #Habibi Come To Dubai Dubai's allure is undeniable, attracting thousands of new residents and visitors each year. Recent reports show that the city's public transport, especially the Dubai Metro, is busier than ever. In the first half of 2024 alone, the Metro saw a staggering 361 million riders—averaging nearly 2 million riders daily! But with this incredible growth comes challenges. The Metro, one of the world’s largest automated rail systems, is facing congestion at major stations like BurJuman and Union. These hubs often feel as bustling as some of Dubai’s busiest markets! While it’s exciting to see such a strong embrace of public transport, there are still gaps. Many residents in newer areas, such as International City, are eagerly awaiting extended Metro connections to make their commutes smoother. As one resident shared, “A Metro station in our area would be a game-changer.” To address this, Dubai is making bold investments in transport infrastructure. Plans for the new Blue Line, set to connect key neighborhoods, are in the works, with a target completion date of 2029. These efforts are part of Dubai’s vision to boost public transport usage and reduce reliance on private vehicles, aiming for 25% of journeys to be made via public transport by 2030. As the city continues to grow, it’s clear that the transport system will need to evolve alongside it.
